This pretty much sums up my feelings today. Much thanks to MAC who writes the blog Yummy of the Day whom I swiped this from last month.
You know when West Virginia says “I do” to same sex marriage that marriage equality will quickly become the law of the land. Hat tip to one of my good friend and bloggah, Dr. J who writes, You Think You Know, for bringing it to my attention in his most recent post.
After W.VA’s Attorney General announced that his office will no longer fight a court challenge on the state’s ban on same-sex marriages, the current governor, Earl Ray, had this to add,
“I do not plan to take any actions that would seek to overturn the courts’ decisions. West Virginia will uphold the law according to these rulings, and I have directed state agencies to take appropriate action to make that possible. Our state is known for its kindness and hospitality to residents and visitors alike. I encourage all West Virginians—regardless of their personal beliefs—to uphold our statewide tradition of treating one another with dignity and respect.”
Sarah Silverman releases a hilarious video about a not so funny subject; equal pay. Nothing infuriates me more than people treating the idea of feminism like a dirty word. For the record, feminism is about fighting for gender equality and fair treatment. I’m happy that Sarah can bring attention to this topic.
Earlier this week NYC Drag Queen, Jeza Belle, released her new book The Harlot’s Guide to Classy Cocktails. I figured with the weekend right around the corner this was as good a time as any to give the book a plug. Ms. Belle’s book includes delicious drink recipes as well as true drunken tales from drag queens around the world.
There is more information about Jeza Belle on her Facebook page. To learn more about or to purchase the book, link here: harlotsguide.com.

According to an article in this week’s BostInno the cost of an uberX ride in Boston is less than the national average.
Data in BostInno’s article shows that Boston uberX rides of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 miles will all cost less than the national average. The graph put together by Streetwise National Data Editor shows that users gradually save more the longer their trip – in terms of mileage or minutes traveled.

I’m not a particularly religious individual nor am I superstitious, but I was raised Roman Catholic and there are some traditions from my childhood that have stuck. Catholics are taught to pray to different patron saints and while I rarely pray – whenever I lose something I still immediately turn to Saint Anthony.
Despite the irrationality of praying to a saint from the 1200s, it is hard for me to think of an instance where Saint Anthony hasn’t come through so why wouldn’t I keep praying?
St. Anthony, St. Anthony please look around.
I’ve lost my <Insert Object> and it needs to be found.
Which is why I’m writing this post, because I promised Saint Anthony I would, and since I know I’ll be in need of his services in the future, no matter how crazy it sounds, I don’t want to wreck what has been an amazingly helpful relationship for 40+ years.
St. Anthony resolves the mystery of BosGuy’s missing keys
On Tuesday, September 16th I flew to Texas for a business trip and unbeknownst to me, I lost my keys when I went through security. I didn’t realize this until the following Monday, after which I proceeded to search all the nooks and crannies of my travel bag, pants pockets, jackets, and even our car. By Tuesday I was feeling pretty down and decided to give “Tony” — that’s how I affectionately refer to Saint Anthony — a call by reciting my prayer over and over. The next morning when I woke up I recalled that going through security in Logan Airport had resulted in some of my contents getting jostled so I called TSA Logan Airport Lost and Found and I spoke to Officer Tony. In less than a few minutes Officer Tony told me he had keys matching my description and I could come by to pick them up at my convenience. Thank you St. Anthony.
Earlier this week the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) identified the most anti-equality elected officials in the US Congress. Ratings are based on past voting records, their introduction and co-sponsorship of anti-LGBT legislation, and their public statements.
Any wonder why I self-identify as a Democrat? While both parties are represented, this list is certainly weighted in favor of the Republican Party. I revile this party as a socially divisive, reactionary group that propagates hateful, xenophobic, misogynistic and homophobic legislation. While there are certainly exceptions, until there is a significant change in rhetoric and leadership, I can’t fathom supporting a national candidate who runs as a Republican.
This video is a few years old and is courtesy of The Onion, a satirical digital media company. However it is still funny and intended in good fun, although it doesn’t stretch the imagination to see something like this on the morning show FOX and Friends.
