Stop the deportations

Have you seen this touching video about Brian and Alfonso? Their story is yet to be fully written, and it is a reminder that elections do matter. While my story is quite different it is not lost on me that for many conservatives in the Democratic Party and virtually all of the Republican Party, Brian and Alfonso don’t matter.

I don’t know about you, but this sort of thing outrages me

By extension of that same logic I don’t matter nor does my relationship with my partner. My government allows someone to marry a stranger from another country and would provide that person all the benefits of a US citizen, but couples who have spent more than a decade together can be ripped apart simply because they share the same anatomy. It makes me ashamed and outraged. Learn more here

Spartacus sizzles

Last year I was mildly addicted to Spartacus: Blood and Sand and developed a bit of a crush on the Welsh actor who played the lead, Andy Whitfield.   Sadly, Whitfield lost his battle with cancer in September, and after he passed, I stopped watching the series.  Maybe I should start watching again.  The writers have clearly increased the homo eroticism in this season’s Spartacus: Vengeance.

Check out this passionate kiss between Agron and Nasir.

Men of Twitter

Each Monday I blog about profiles of men on Twitter who catch my eye and whom I think you may enjoy following. As always, suggestions for profiles to feature are welcome. If you’d like to follow me on twitter, you can find me @BosGuy. You can find me talking about these men on Twitter by searching the #MenOfTwitter.

Keeping with a recent trend of featuring couples I’d like to introduce you to the masterminds behind @theboysofraannt.

www.raannt.com

@theboysofraannt – This twitter handle is managed by a fun couple who live in Indiana and is mostly used to chat with celebrities and to inform followers of new posts on their blog so I thought I’d turn the tables on these guys by writing a bit about them.  Alex Paredes (@alxprp) is Venezuelan but has lived most of his life in the US, and Peter Monn (@mrpemo) is born and raised in the Midwest.  Together this handsome couple run and manage a popular celebrity website www.raannt.com.

Alex and Peter have been together nearly four years and were married in Las Vegas in August 2011… Aww guys, wish you’d come out to Provincetown to tie the knot!  Consider checking out these guys and following them and their blog via Twitter. I’ve included some extra pictures of this entertaining and interesting couple just to show you they make for good eye candy as well.

LGBT publications

Does your hometown have a LGBT newspaper?  If so, do you read it either in print or online?  Boston has a couple of publications and more than few blogs, but the grand dame of LGBT newsprint in Boston is Bay Windows.

I’ve listed a few LGBT publications in the US and the communities they service.  My list is part of a much longer list which also includes newspapers serving cities around the world as well as life style magazines so if you do not see your home mentioned check out this more complete listing.

Travel Tip: These publications / websites can also serve as a great guide for what’s happening in these communities. They often provide advertisements for shows, nightlife and or restaurants you may want to check out while visiting.

Here are links to several US LGBT newspapers:  Boston:  Bay Windows  Chicago: Grab Magazine   Dallas:  Dallas Voice   Denver:  Out Front  Houston:  Houston Progressive Voice   New York City:  Gay City News  San Diego: San Diego Gay and Lesbian News San Francisco:  Bay Area Reporter   Seattle:  Seattle Gay News   Washington DC:  Washington Blade

Play ball

One month from today is Opening Day at Fenway Park. At 2:05pm local time the Boston Red Sox will host the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and this city will be abuzz with excitement.

Wicked bummah

WickedGayBlog.comDavid over at WGB has decided it’s time to take a break from blogging. WickeGayBlog, which started with a definite Boston slant (hence the name), over the years became more focused on gay issues and pop culture. However, David (a resident of Hull, MA) never forgot his roots and remains a great supporter of my blog and other local bloggers.

I have an irrational relationship with a handful of blogs – and David’s is one of them.  I go to David’s site at least once a day and have enjoyed the banter back and forth over the past few years that has evolved in our online communications. I do hope that he eventually returns to blogging but if he doesn’t I still wanted to acknowledge his contributions and express how much I admire both David and his commitment to his blog over the past 5+ years.

Stop by and leave a comment on his blog. He’ll be blogging through the end of May.

Ben Cohen

Hunky Ben Cohen is on the cover of the April / May issue of Metrosource magazine.  Ben poses for photographer, Edwin Santiago, in the latest issue and talks about his transition from a British rugby star to an ally of the gay community with his Standup Foundation, dedicated to anti-bullying.Ben Cohen Metrosource

In lieu of featuring two separate profiles, this week I’m featuring one Twitter handle that is managed by a rather interesting couple. Check out their story.

FlashPackAt40 – This week I’m featuring a couple, John & Craig, who met 20+ years ago in London.  Over the years they have traveled extensively but at the end of 2011 they decided to sell nearly everything they own and purchased a one-way ticket to Australia to travel and see the world together for the next two years. They refer to their current adventure as “flashpacking” and have created a travel blog to document their experiences which you can check out here, flashpackat40.com.

Three months into their adventure, John depicted on the left has listed New Year’s Eve celebrations in Sydney and their time in Bali as his favorite memories.  Incidentally its John’s birthday today so wish him well.

Craig depicted on the right lists the helicopter ride they took around fox glacier and mount cook as his highlight.  If you are a beer lover, you’ll appreciate Craig’s commitment to sample as many types of beers from around the world on his travels.

Next stop: the Philippines followed by Taiwan, S. Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Nepal and India.

Mitt Romney Gay Pride Flier

Candidate Mitt Romney seems to have multiple personalities. If you happen to live in any of the states holding Republican Presidential Primaries or Caucuses today, you probably won’t hear anything nearly as friendly from Romney.  Lately. he’s jumped at the opportunity to show his “Conservative Credentials”.

I wonder why his competitors have not seized this opportunity to illustrate his hypocrisy?  I suppose there are probably just too many other examples, but I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw this image which was posted on Spirit Magazine’s website. If you find this funny, check out James Lopata’s humorous article, Top 10 Gay Reasons to Vote GOP in 2012.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Last week when I posted the Calvin Klein 2012 Spring photo and video I received a lot of positive feedback so I thought I’d share an ad campaign that I thought was particularly sexy.  The 2010 Cristiano Ronaldo Armani campaign.  I’ve been enamored with this football / soccer player since I saw him play in the 2008 Olympics.

hectorfonseca – You don’t have to be club kid to recognize this handsome Jersey kid with Puerto Rican roots. Hector Fonseca is a successful DJ / producer who has been touring the US and the world.  Even if you are unlikely to find yourself at a club, you probably would like Hector’s music.  Last year he had a series of successful remixes for artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyonce.  Clearly the guy knows what he’s doing. Music lovers and fans can follow Hector who Tweets regularly.

jasaonyantha – Originally from Ottawa, Jason now calls Toronto home where he works as a producer at MTV Canada. This low-key, handsome guy freely admits he probably spends too much time on Twitter and Facebook.  However, he clearly has a great sense of humor too as he’s quite proud of his latest home decorating project, framing all five of Lindsay Lohan’s mugshots as “wall art”.  Want to learn more about Jason? You can follow him on Twitter and check out a website that includes some photos of his friends, jasonyantha.com.

2012 Fenway Men’s Event

This past weekend was one of Boston’s largest GLBT fundraisers of the year.  More than 1,300 gay men, their friends and allies came together to raise money for one of the nation’s largest GLBT healthcare facilities, The Fenway Health Clinic.

This year’s recipient of the Gerry E. Studds Award was Massachusetts Representative Barney Frank.

Below is a quick video I have created from the 2012 Fenway Men’s Event on Saturday night. Thank you very much to all who posed for a photo and my sincere apologies to those who were not included.
