A few years ago I posted this Youtube video entitled, Love At First Sight. I forgot about it until my brother asked for it again. The nearly three minute voice message left by an intoxicated and overly excited woman convinced she has just met her soulmate is filled with cringe-worthy comments like:
“Call me, email me, IM me, fax me, page me…”
“And we both have the same interest in yo-yo’s.”
“I know you said you had to leave urgently. I hope that everything’s okay.”
Ten years ago this June the movie Devil Wears Prada was released and The Welcoming Committee has rented out the super cozy Coolidge Corner Theatre for a screening of the iconic movie, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. The Museum of Fine Arts Boston has a new exhibit that opened this past weekend that you may want to check out called #techstyle.
The exhibit is about technology innovations that are inspiring designers, influencing the future of fashion and the way people interacting with their clothing. The exhibition draws on the MFA’s collection of contemporary fashion and accessories, and features key pieces from innovators in the field including a digitally-printed dress from Alexander McQueen’s Plato’s Atlantis collection (Spring/Summer 2010/2011) and Iris van Herpen’s 3-D printed dress (2013) produced in collaboration with MIT designer and assistant professor Neri Oxman. You will experience the cutting edge of hi-tech fashion with special commissions created by CuteCircuit, Hussein Chalayan, Kate Goldsworthy, and Somerville-based Nervous System.

Mark your calendars and dust off that tuxedo because Boston’s gay prom A.K.A. The Fenway Men’s event is right around the corner, Saturday, March 19th.
Will you be attending the black tie fundraiser for Fenway Health? The Men’s Event is an annual tradition for many in the Boston area to hop into a tuxedo and come together to help raise money for Boston’s largest LGBT clinic, Fenway Health. Slobodan Miseljic in Doha, Qatar – Fall 2011
Starting on Wednesday, March 16th, Qatar Airways will begin non-stop service from Boston to Doha on board their latest aircraft the A350 XWB. Introductory fares starting at $715 were offered but look for more deals as a Qatar Airways starts to compete with Emirates Airlines, which offers two flights daily to Dubai.
While Sergio and I currently have no plans to check out this wealthy Persian Gulf nation, I wanted to share some photographs snapped by my friend Slobodan when he visited Qatar about five years ago.
Doha is perhaps best known for its wealth, futuristic skyscrapers and modern architecture inspired by ancient Islamic design.
A must see for any visitor according to my friend Slobodan is the beautiful Museum of Islamic Art shown below, which first opened in the spring of 2008 and was designed by Chinese architect I. M. Pei (the same man who graduated from Harvard and designed Boston’s John Hancock Tower in the Back Bay).

Gay for Good (G4G) is a national organization that operates chapters in eleven cities across the United States. The Boston chapter is incredibly active and a LGBT group that I like to write about for those who may be looking to either give back or interested in meeting people and making new friends.

Back in 2013, in honor of the death of DOMA, three small heart shaped locks were shackled to the ugly chain link fence over the Massachusetts Turnpike on Massachusetts Avenue in the Back Bay.
Since the summer of 2013, many more locks have been added and now the chain link fence is covered by several hundred padlocks; each presumably to symbolize and commemorate relationships here in Boston. Some of the locks have names, dates, or quotes written on them, which you can read if you look closely. 
Time to wake up and start your day.
