Wicked Queer: Boston’s LGBT film festival opens today
Attention all you movie lovers – Boston’s LGBT Film Festival, a.k.a. “Wicked Queer”, starts today and runs through Sunday, April 9th. The Boston Globe recently published two articles about films you can see at this year’s festival, that you can read, Boston’s LGBT festival has moves and ‘Groves’ and, Navigating Reality at the Wicked Queer festival.
Wicked Queer will show more than 40 LGBTQ themed films over the next 10-days. Films will range from The Guys Next Door, a documentary of a real “Modern Family” and an inspiring story of family, friendship and gay rights that shows this weekend, Saturday, April 1 at 3PM at the MFA to Taekwondo the latest homoerotic slow burn from director Marco Berger, which is sure to raise the temperature in the Brattle Theatre where it will play on Friday, April 7th.

Vintage gay
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
Gay Shorts at Club Cafe March 30 – April 1
Join Sergio and me this Thursday night when we attend opening night for the Open Theatre Project at Club Cafe.
Award winning local playwright, George Smart shares a series of seven short plays about gay men. The collection of plays are funny relevant and irreverent but they only play for three evenings March 30 through April 1 at Club Cafe.

This week on Instagram: bradgoreski
This week on Instagram I’m featuring Brad Goreski who I first saw watching Fashion Police and who has made a name for himself styling famous people I’ve mostly never heard of but who seem to be show stoppers on the red carpet. While you would never know it by the way I dress, I do love fashion. Brad’s IG account includes really beautiful photos that aspiring fashionistas would love.

Each Wednesday morning I post a photograph and ask readers to offer a funny caption. Hopefully the caption below inspires you to share a few of your own.

Lecture on the history of “gay cruising” at Fenway Health tonight
Earlier this month I published a post about this free lecture that will occur this evening at Fenway Health courtesy of The History Project’s Out in Public lecture series. This is the first event for the series and they will discuss the taboo subject of cruising; how this evolved over time and what can we learn about the men who turned to the public parks of Paris three centuries ago?
Click here to learn more about the Boston-based The History Project. While the event is free and open to the public, seating is limited so reservations are strongly recommended. Reserve your tickets here.
When: Tuesday, March 28th at 6:30PM
Where: Fenway Health – 1340 Boylston Street (10th Floor), Boston
Mayor Marty Walsh video: City Hall sanctuary
I’m unsure how I missed this humorous video about a subject that isn’t very funny at all – immigration reform. The Mayor of Boston, Marty Walsh, released this excellent video back in January after Trump was sworn into office. I think it is the perfect response and support the message 100%.
For those of you who have only heard a Boston accent in an Affleck film, here is proof that people really do talk like that.

The Abbey Group, which purchased the former Boston Flower Exchange in the South End recently shared their plans for the 5+ acre parcel of land.
The space as they envision it will be transformed into a large commercial office building complex targeting health and technology businesses that would be drawn to the proximity of Boston Medical Center and Boston University Medical School. The new development will create 1.6 million square feet of lab or tech office space with additional plans for open space, restaurants and retail on the ground level. You can read the full article in last week’s Boston Globe, here.
