Have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2014, Lake House

Thanksgiving 2014 on Lake Winnipesaukee

Sergio and I have returned to spend Thanksgiving Day at my parent’s house on Lake Winnipesaukee.  Fortunately, the weather is more mild than last year when we visited.  While I’m very happy to share that the forecast is mostly sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 50s, last year’s surprise snowstorm in northern New England was unbelievably picturesque so I thought I’d share one of the photos Sergio snapped of me walking back to the house with his phone.

I also wanted to use this opportunity to wish any who may stop by to read my blog today a very happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving

Rio de Janeiro BrazilAccording to AAA nearly 50 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from home this weekend to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family.  Sergio and I will have already left Boston and driven up to northern New England.  Our early start was intentional to avoid the expected traffic that comes with the holiday.  Whatever you are doing or however you may be spending the Thanksgiving holiday I hope your travels are smooth.

Massive mixed use project for Government Center

Last week The Boston Globe wrote (once again) about a huge mixed use project in Government Center that would add to Boston’s skyline and significantly change the make up of the Government Center / West End neighborhoods.  The project proposed  by HYM Investment Group (shown above) would replace the existing Government Center parking garage (shown below) with two towers; a 45-story apartment tower and a 43-story office tower. The two towers are part of a larger, 2.4-million-square-foot development that was first proposed back in 2011 but is finally expected to start next year.

According to The Globe, the new apartment tower will feature a mix of studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom units and will offer a lineup of amenities including a swimming pool, sun deck, yoga studio and gym on the 9th floor, while the 31st floor “will offer leisure spaces for residents with a multi-purpose room, library, and roof deck.”  According to the BRA website, the project will include 800+ residential units, a 196-room hotel, 82,500 square feet of retail space, while preserving the nearly 1,200 parking spaces from the garage.

Boys of Boston Love Myself official video

Boston’s gay flag football is back with another fun and carefree that appears to be mostly taken in and around where I live in the South End.  The video includes views from around Boston,  dancing, and plenty of shirtless guys having fun.

Boston Ballet The Nutcracker opens this week

Boston Ballet NutcrackerFriday, November 27th – the day after Thanksgiving – Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker  opens at Boston’s Opera House.  A few years ago Mikko Nissinen and the Boston Ballet updated their production of the classic tale set to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky.  This is a classic holiday tradition that I highly recommend. Tickets are very affordable, starting at $35 and performances run through December 31st.  Check out the video below of the Boston Ballet’s Snow Scene – like you’ve never seen it before – from The Nutcracker.
