Skating rink comes to City Hall Plaza
There seem to be conflicting reports about The city of Boston “Winter’s Landing” in City Hall Plaza.
Earlier this month it was reported that Winter’s Landing would include an Olympic size skating rink called Frozen Harbor as well as a 2-story 20,000 square foot bar called The Polar Bear. However, conflicting reports after the story broke made it sound like permits and rumbling from neighbors may impact the bar, The Polar Bear, from opening. Time will tell and I’ll be sure to share more when I learn about it. You can stay up to date on everything that is happening with Winter’s Landing on their Facebook page, facebook.com/WintersLanding.
BosGuy takes the Nerium challenge
Christmas came a bit early this year – My Mom signed Sergio and I up to receive a few months of this “age-defying” skin cream called Nerium. I have to admit I’m not much of a product guy, but last month my Aunt asked me try it for free for one week so I did. I was surprised by the results, but after the free trial ran out I didn’t think much about it until it showed up at my door this week. Apparently my Mom loves Nerium too and after hearing me comment how surprised I was by its affects she signed us up to receive it for a few months (Thanks Mom!).
I just snapped this photo and aside from thinking my two-day scruff is pathetic and I look a bit tired, this is an accurate depiction of my complexion. Let’s see if I can stick to the nightly regimen of washing my face and applying the night cream. I’ll post another photo in a couple weeks to see if there are any visible changes.
If you are struggling with what to buy for that guy / gal who already has everything maybe this is a good option too. Nobody I know would be upset for offering them a chance to have younger looking skin. If you’re intrigued you can check it out here: Margie Silva: Nerium.

Saturday night video: Dear Santa Bring Me a Man
RuPaul Drag Race alumnus Courtney Act, Willam and Alaska Thunderfuck have released a draglicious little ditty in time for the holidays called Dear Santa Bring Me a Man. Many of you may have already seen this clip, but I thought it was perfect to hold off and post on a Saturday evening. I actually love it and think I’m developing a bit of a crush on Courtney. Check out her homage to Madonna – mimicking her famous pose in the Vogue video.

Ink Block in Boston’s South End now renting
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to meet and talk to Ted Tye, Managing Partner at National Development, the firm behind the South End’s Ink Block. In their temporary office across from the Ink Block, he showed me their plans for the new development and hinted at more news to share after the new year.
Ink 1 & 2 will open Feb 1, 2015 and are offering 1 month free rent for all 1 year leases and 6 weeks free rent for all 18 month leases.
Whole Foods is scheduled to open in just a few weeks but Ted was mum about giving an exact opening date in January. Don’t worry about the bad weather since 100+ parking spots are reserved for the store. In addition the Ink Block will offer cool amenities including: underground connectivity to Whole Foods so one needn’t go outside in bad weather; a new gym; pool and outdoor function space to enjoy and host parties. Also look for a new Hubway station and parking for a couple of ZipCars.
When speaking to the team at National Development they were keen to impress upon me their desire to leverage their commercial space for new restaurants (non-chains) that can provide more affordable dining options. They want restaurants because they would like to have tenants that will be open after normal business hours to avoid having the block go dark and to encourage more pedestrian traffic.
Barcelona South End now open
Barcelona South End quietly opened their doors last night and flipped the on switch to their new Facebook page which you can like here. Sergio and I visited the invite only soft opening earlier this week, which I wrote about in my post, ¡Hola! Barcelona Wine (South End).
Barcelona South End opens at 3 pm 7-days a week but check back after they have been up and running for a bit because Jason Boske told me that he loves brunch.

Angelina Jolie and Sony Executive, Amy Pascal
I rarely post anything about movies or movie stars but the ugly email correspondence that was leaked to the public from Sony Studios has been hard to miss.
RuPaul Drag Queen wannabees look closely at Jolie’s greeting of Sony Executive, Pascal, earlier this morning. It was their first meeting since the scandal broke.
Santa Speedo Run video makes the rounds
The video I created for the Santa Speedo Run last Saturday proved to be quite the boon garnering ~25,000 views in the first 5 days. I wanted to take a moment to recognize and thank some of the news outlets and blogs that shared my video with their readers. With a special thanks going to bloggers, David (WGB), Kenneth (Kenneth in 212), Joe (JMG) as well as my friend, Jim Clerkin (KISS 108) and Huffington Post.
I would welcome the opportunity to talk to local media outlets – esp. those that focus on LGBT life or those that would like to be more inclusive. If you have any contacts or work at a local media group let me know.
