Have you seen the music video for The V Motion Project’s song, “Can’t Help Myself”? According to AdverBlog, Producer Joel Little created the music, musician James Hayday broke the track down and Paul Sanderson built the tech to control the music. The result is a fully functional musical instrument that can be played live, triggered virtually by a dancer.
The video was shot in Auckland, New Zealand, against a warehouse. Check out the faces in the crowd – they are clearly enjoying the show.
The Economist was extremely unforgiving of Mitt Romney’s gaffes on his most recent trip abroad and the first as the presumptive Republican Presidential candidate. No doubt this was intended to give Romney credibility with regards to foreign affairs (something generally very important to the Republican Party), but Romney’s trip was more like a string of blunders that were embarrassing. Is he really this ill prepared? I’ve included an excerpt from the post on The Economist.
“After spending several days getting flayed by the British press handling of the Olympic games, he moved on to Israel, where his campaign promptly involved itself in a diplomatic scandal (this time with actual consequences) over whether it had said that Mr Romney would back a unilateral Israeli strike on Iran.
Mr Romney went on to declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel, a position no American administration has ever taken because discussions over the final status of the city are the most explosive subject in Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. Then this morning, at a fund-raising breakfast largely populated by ultra-rich Jewish Americans, Mr Romney managed to suggest that Palestinians are poor because their culture is inferior to that of Jews.”

This is an actual logo designed in 1973 for the Catholic Church’s Archdiocesan Youth Commission. It even won an award from the Art Directors Club of L.A. Not sure what people were thinking, and all I can conclude is that people were far more innocent in 1973. This would never fly today.
Amtrak launched its “Ride With Pride” campaign at the end of July, partnering with the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA). I’m always intrigued when businesses create niche marketing like this. Such blatant courting would have never been feasible by a government subsidized organization in the past.
One of the things I love about the Olympics is that sports not normally televised get prime time viewing. For example, who didn’t enjoy watching all the swimming events earlier this week? Even if you don’t swim, I’m fairly certain the appeal of the sport suddenly makes sense.

Whenever I watch or read the news the topic most discussed is always either the US or global economy (esp. with regards to Europe).
I’m not an economist and after a certain point I start to tune out all this out, but I do love pictures and charts so I found this interesting. The graphic below details how Americans spent their money last quarter.
If this was a personal consumption chart I think I’d need a separate breakout for Ptown and for wine. What category (ies) would you need added?

Earlier this week, BuzzFeed had an amusing article entitled, 19 Things that will drive your OCD self insane. It features images like this with a fig newton out of place that is certain to drive some people absolutely cuckoo.
If you are OCD you may not want to check out the 18 other photos. If you know or love someone who suffers a bit from OCD, poke fun at them by printing these photos and taping them (off center and crooked of course) around their home.
Matthew Mitcham, 2008 Australian Olympic champion in the 10M platform, used some of his down time during the London Olympic games this week to make a cute video of him singing Single Ladies on his ukulele. Could Matthew be any more adorable or likeable? I don’t think so.

Warren’s comments will undoubtably rile those from the Right who believe this country is a wonderful place, but find her logic and comments flawed. I understand this perspective; coming from a conservative family but I disagree and wholeheartedly agree with Elizabeth Warren.
