It is that time of year when we set our clocks back an hour 😦

The Carrie Diaries on CW

Will the prequel to Sex In The City, The Carrie Diaries be a hit or a flop? Ā The CW show will debut in January, and to drum up interest they have started to release Season Preview clips on YouTube.

The show opens in Connecticut in 1984 soon after 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw loses her mother. Ā I can’t say that this will make it to my DVR, but I can see the appeal. The trailer recently released makes me think the show which I’d initially thought sounded terrible may have promise.Ā

Olives & Grace in the South End

Olives & GraceLast weekend I stumbled upon a relatively new storefront just off of Tremont Street in the South End called Olives & Grace. Ā  Sofi, the owner of this cute shop, seeks to “feature emerging artists, gift producers, and small batch food makers“. Ā The store struck me as the perfect place for purchasing custom gift packages.

Olives & GraceOlives & Grace is a unique shop you should check out

Sofi (shown above) is busy adding new treats and products so return visits provide you with something new to try / see on each visit. However, she did mention that she always has something bacon related (my brother would come in just for that) and unique temptations for those with a sweet tooth.

Olives and GraceOlives & Grace is closed on Monday and open from 12-8pmĀ Tuesday thru Sunday. Ā Stop by this cute storefront just off Tremont Street.

Bush speaks at conference “How to avoid paying US taxes”

President George W Bush was keynote speaker 1-November.

The conference subject matter: How to outsource your money to avoid paying US taxes.

Interesting that the condition of his speaking was a complete media blackout. Ā Would love media to ask Mitt Romney what he thinks about this.

ABOUT THE EVENT: Organizers of an investment conference in the Cayman Islands say they have been forbidden from disclosing any details about a speech by former President George W. Bush in the offshore financial haven, an event spokesman said Thursday.

The keynote speech by the former president is “totally closed to all journalists,” and conference organizers are forbidden from discussing any aspect of it even in general terms, spokesman Dan Kneipp said.

4-years later and I’m still ashamed he was my President

Furry Friday

BosGuy GayI would consider this Pitcha Purrfect (picture perfect).

Past Furry Friday Posts

BosGuy brain teaser

brain teaserEach Friday morning I post a riddle or brain teaser. Ā The idea is to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. Share with friends or coworkers if you cannot figure out the answer and together perhaps you can determine the answer.

Post your answers in the comments section, and I’ll confirm the correct responses after lunch to give everyone a fair chance.

This week’s riddle: Ā After teaching class about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9 and so on) the teacher asked the class to draw a single continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation was the pen could not be lifted from the paper until the line was complete.

Halloween in the South End

Boston HalloweenBoston’s South End neighborhood is an amazing place if you are of Trick or Treat age. Ā My neighborhood lacks the wild revelry in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and elsewhere, but I love the low-key fun of watching thousands of kids walking up to each Bowfront Victorian for candy.

As you can see, its not just the kids who really get into the spirit of the holiday.

Here are a few more photos of some of the people out and about in the South End for Halloween last night. Ā Click on the image to enlarge.

Part of our “Halloween tradition” which includes walking around part of the neighborhood is to stop by one particular home on Union Park Street because of their amazing pumpkin displays. Ā This year had a Dr. Seuss theme. Ā Below are photos of several of the Seuss O’Lanterns. Ā As with the collection of photos above, click on the image to enlarge.Ā Much thanks to Sergio for taking all these fantastic photos.

Movember

It is that time of year again. Ā During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. These men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

While I couldn’t grow a mustache in even 30-days, I encourage you to participate in Movember. Ā There is more information about the initiative at us.movember.com.

Romney: Federal Disaster Relief Spending Is ‘Immoral’

In light Hurricane Sandy, I wonder if those who are displaced believe Federal disaster relief efforts should be privatized like Romney suggests.

Ā Latest case of Romnesia: 6/13/11: Asked about federal disaster relief to recent tornado and flood victims, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called the spending “immoral” and said disaster relief efforts should be privatized.
