Boston Globe reports Eataly will open in Boston in 2016 at the Prudential Mall

BostonFollowing rumors that were reported a few months ago that Mario Batali was looking to open a third US location for the Eataly chain here in Boston, one day after his Babbo Pizzeria opened in the Seaport, The Boston Globe reports that Battali’s Eataly is close to signing a lease at the Shops at Prudential Center.

Early plans call for the marketplace to take over the existing food court at the Shops at Prudential Center. Eataly will add a street-level entrance with a cafe, leading up to the marketplace and connecting to a new building under construction on the Pru property. A new rooftop restaurant and brewery, seating up to 300 people, will be added above the space currently occupied by the food court.   Saper said plans for the Boston Eataly may change and his team has yet to sign a lease with Boston Properties Inc…Eataly hopes to open in mid- to late-2016, he said.

You may read the full article in The Boston Globe here.  I’m bragging a bit too since I told Eater Boston that this was the year Eataly would come to Boston. Mario Batali

Set your DVRs to Logo TV shows Cucumber and Banana

Russell T Davies, Queer as Folk, Logo TV

Vincent Franklin as Henry in Russell T Davies’s new drama Cucumber Photo: Channel 4

Are you still bummed about the news that HBO’s series, Looking, has been canceled?  Perhaps you should set your DVRs to record the UK Channel 4 series Cucumber and Banana, which started this past Monday on Logo TV.

Cucumber centers around Henry Best, a 46-year-old insurance executive from Manchester, England who suffers a midlife crisis after he has a meltdown when he and his partner bring home a third person from the bars.

The one hour dramedy Cucumber and its half-hour companion, Banana, which follows immediately on Logo was very funny this week and has me hooked.  The show is from Russell Davies who showcased Manchester more than a decade ago in his UK hit series Queer as Folk.  However, where Queer as Folk focused on men in their teens to late 20s; Cucumber picks up the stories of gay Manchester a generation later.  Set your DVRs to record – Locally Logo TV is channel 281.

I’d bottom for Elizabeth

I'd Bottom for Hillary, ClintonLast weekend the Bottom for Hillary Instagram account posted this funny photo, following Hillary Clinton’s announcement that she intended to run for President.

And it got me to thinking…

While I do love me some Hillary, if I’m going to bottom for a politician, I think I’d prefer to keep that sort of thing local.  So even though it will never happen, I’m going to save myself for Elizabeth. I like her populist message and the fire in her belly.  Sorry Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Jim Webb, I’m sticking with Elizabeth.
