According to reports from The Boston Globe earlier this week, Mario Batali’s long awaited Babbo Pizzeria – an 8,700 square foot pizzeria and Italian tapas restaurant – opens for dinner today in their new space at Fan Pier in the Seaport District. If you can’t make it to dinner, Babbo’s Twitter handle Tweeted that they will open for lunch starting tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
Babbo Pizzeria is at 11 Fan Pier Blvd in the Seaport District
According to a great article from The Boston Globe, the prices and menu is similar to Batali’s East Village, Otto Enoteca (a personal favorite of mine). Pizzas range from an $8 marinara pizza to a $15 goat cheese pizza with pistachios, red onion, and truffle honey; small plates vary from $5 vegetable plates like cauliflower “alla Siciliana” to a three-cheese tasting for $11; larger plates range from grilled meats such as the $18 skirt steak with charred onions and aceto to pastas priced from $10 to $15. The most expensive plate is a $35 chefs selection of grilled meats.
I’ll give this place a few weeks before heading over to the madness that is certain to ensue, but I’d love to hear from you if you happen to stop in before I do. Let me know your thoughts. I’m a big fan of Batali’s Otto Enoteca and have high expectations for Babbo Pizzeria.
