I’m left handed. As a matter of fact, I am sooo left handed that when I was much younger and learning to play baseball I use to catch and throw with my left hand; until I was made to throw with my right hand which is why I think to this day my aim stinks and the safest object is the one I’m aiming at… but I digress.
Watch this interesting video and let me know what the result was. Are you more left brained, more left brained, or evenly divided?
The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics start tonight and while I’ve already written a handful of posts expressing my frustration with the IOC’s actions, I fully intend to watch the Olympics.
In a perverse twist of fate, Russia’s spree of homophobic legislation and Putin’s remarks defending them has made the LGBT calls for greater equality abroad a topic of conversation in a way that it may never have been if the games had been held elsewhere, and I hope the scrutiny post-games shall not subside.
Thanks to “Boston” Dan a BosGuy blog reader who sent me this video.
Are there some new restaurants in the South End you’ve yet to try? Chances are those restaurants will be at this year’s Taste of the South End on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 so mark the date in your calendar and buy your tickets today because this event sells out every year.
Massachusetts native (turned New Yorker) and gay rapper who is responsible for such ditties as I seen Beyonce at Burger King and my personal favorite, Ice Cream Truck, is back with a new song called Helen Keller. Apparently Cazwell is taking the name of the famous American author and activist who was born deaf and blind and turning her name into a word that describes someone you completely cut out of your life.
Like the end of the song says, “We’re done. I don’t see you and I don’t hear you. We’re through… Buh-Bye.”
I think that Gretchen Wieners might have a better chance of making “fetch” work than this new use of an iconic American heroine, but I suppose time will tell. Until then, check out Cazwell’s latest video.
This past summer I first posted a video from Max on how to cut off t-shirt sleeves. The video proved popular not only because of the practical advice but the fact that Max is rather attractive. You can watch the clip here.
I recently started following Max on Twittah and it turns out that even though he now lives in Southern California, he’s a Boston native. Who knew?
Anyway, I figured I’d feature his “Appropriate Greetings” video. Careful if you are in a work environment as there is some profanity. Bostonians may recognize his version of how we say “hello” which interestingly follows how the Irish greet each other around the 45 – 50 second mark.
In honor of the premiere of HBO’s “LOOKING” Eliot Glazer shares the Reluctant Gay Dude’s Guide to Modern Gay Vernacular. This is hilarious although there is some strong language so you may want to think twice before watching this if you are at work.
I love poetry. I think when you can connect to this form of creative prose the content of the expression becomes powerful. Savannah Brown’s poetry slam What guys look for in girls is one of those poems.
My good friend and author of the visually stunning (not to mention delicious) blog, Frenchie and the Yankee, forward me the new video from Garçon Français, an underwear line from where else? France.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to see SpeakEasy Stage’s production of The Color Purple. This musical is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the acclaimed film by Steven Spielberg.
While watching a musical about a poor African-American woman living in the South in the 1930s may not be the first thing you think of when planning a night out, trust me – you are going to love this show. The SpeakEasy Stage has assembled a large, talented cast that belt out amazing music and draw you in, making the time fly. As you might expect, the show runs the emotional gamut and provides ample fodder for conversation later. For my more shallow readers, the incredibly handsome Jared Nixon (shown below) might be sufficient motivation.

I’ve included a video of one of my favorite songs from The Color Purple courtesy of Mercury Theater Chicago. The local production here at The SpeakEasy Stage runs through February 8th so get your tickets today.
Much thanks to Brenton of Aussielicious for sharing this eerie rendition of Kylie Monogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head by Lee Glasson on The Voice UK blind auditions. I thought he was amazing. What do you think?
This Sunday Boston will join cities from around the world for the annual No Pants Subway Ride. You can learn more about the event and the Boston Society of Shenanigans who organize the Boston event, by linking here and don’t forget to RSVP for the post-party.
Here is a quick video I pulled together from Boston’s 2013 No Pants Subway Ride.
Yes, kids I’m sorry to say this is an actual product you can purchase on Amazon.com and on the company’s website. If you happen to enjoy potty humor you probably should check out this funny commercial.
