Thanks to the Highland Street Foundation, Free fun Friday’s has been making different museums and cultural venues in and around Boston free to the public this summer. Each Friday, Free Fun Fridays identifies six different museums and cultural venues the public may enjoy for no cost.
Tomorrow, August 23rd, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will be free. To see the full list of museums and cultural institutions that will be free of charge, link here.
Thank you Highland Street Foundation.

Although this year’s Carnival parade in Provincetown is yet to start, Commercial Street is chalk full of guys in Las Vegas themed costumes, in anticipation of the parade. I’ll be posting pictures from this year’s celebration and hope all the fun entices those of you who have never been to come and join in all the fun next year when Carnival’s theme will give a nod to Comic Book Characters / Superheroes.
Not sure which superhero best represents your personality? Check out this online quiz to give you ideas for the costume you should wear at Ptown’s 2014 Carnival celebration, Superhero Quiz.
Sadly I jest. Facebook is not introducing this icon, but I find the “like” button to be one-dimensional and while I don’t expect to see a middle finger or thumbs down icon anytime soon, I think we should start a campaign to get Facebook to create a “meh” icon.
Just think how popular this would be in some communities. Many otherwise sedate Jewish and Gay users would probably get so emotional with this new option they’re likely to get all verklempt.
The 2013 Carnival party in Provincetown starts later today.
If you’ve not attended Carnival before, my word of advice is to get out to Commercial Street early to watch the thousands of men and women dressed to this year’s theme Viva Las Vegas.
Here is a video my friend Olivier made after last year’s outlandish theme of Space Odyssey.
I’ll look to pull together something from all the fun this week to share with you in a few days.
“Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller — long rumored to be gay — officially came out of the closet today, in a letter to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival declining an invitation to appear there, citing Russia’s recent rash of laws essentially criminalizing homosexuality. Good for you Wentworth.
Emma Green Tregaro, the Swedish athlete who painted her fingernails the colors of the rainbow to show support for gay rights last week was forced to re-paint her nails, after track and field’s governing body warned that her nails flouted its ban on political statements at events.
As the world championships concluded on Sunday, Russia’s minister of sport, Vitaly Mutko, said the freedoms of those who come to Sochi “will be absolutely protected.” But he also said, “We want to protect our children whose psyches have not formed from the propaganda of drug use, drunkenness and non-traditional sexual relations.”
My response to both the International Amateur Athletic Federation and Russia’s minister of sport is exactly the same. Perhaps you can figure out my “Wheel of Fortune” inspired response.

Similar to the Harlem Shake but more pervasive is twerking. While I understand why so many gay themed blogs regularly post these animated GIFs, I have to admit I’m over it and looking forward to when people talk about twerking in the past tense. Much like the Macarena and other pseudo-dance phases, this can’t end fast enough for me.
I’m sure there are a number of you who will disagree. For those of you who can’t get enough of this sort of thing, check out Queerty’s post of favorite Twerking GIFs here.
Pardon the provocative blog post title, but for several years now every Wednesday night downstairs at the Governor Bradford there is a dance party called Fag Bash.
This week’s theme: Shotgun Wedding
Each week these differently themed parties attract party goers; some in very elaborate costumes. With Carnival Week in full swing by tomorrow night you can imagine that downstairs at the Governor Bradford will be packed so get there early. Much thanks to my friend Devon for sharing this week’s theme.
In the weeks that followed the Fourth of July, I some how fell off the fitness & diet wagon.
The past couple weeks in particular have resulted in my cancelling even my personal fitness dates with my much beloved trainer, Kris, but I’m not making any excuses because the fault lies squarely on my shoulders. I plan on rectifying the situation after returning from Cape Cod this weekend. Until then I’m trying my best not to feel like this.
