Ever wonder why ancient statues have small penises

MichaelangeloAn article with a similar title was sent to me by a reader and friend of this blog and it made me laugh so I thought I’d share it with you for some light reading.

According to art historian Ellen Oredsson, the reason virtually every ancient statue you’ll ever see has a rather small penis is because of cultural perceptions and biases of the time. Apparently, big penises were associated with specific negative characteristics: foolishness, lust and ugliness. By contrast the ideal man was meant to be rational, intellectual and authoritative and a small penis allowed a man to remain coolly logical.

Who can say if this is true or not but the brief and colorful article (they use a bit more direct language) can be read in its entirety here.

Justin Timberlake Cant Stop This FeelingWhile everyone is still talking about the latest release by Beyoncé, Lemonade, earlier this week Mr. Timberlake released a fun new music video for his song Can’t Stop The Feeling, a celebration of shaking off your troubles and busting a move; a perfect song to get ready to on a Saturday evening.

Modus Vivendi 2016 swimwear

bathing suitEarlier this spring the provocative underwear / male fashion line, Modus Vivendi, released their new bathing suit line.

While I’m not in any kind of shape to think about bathing suits, many will be hitting the beaches and pools regularly when Memorial Day Weekend officially kicks off the 2016 summer season. Modus Vivendi Neon line includes briefs, Brazil cut boxers, boxer briefs and boxer shorts in three vibrant colors including neon aqua, neon fuchsia and neon yellow.

I’ll just live vicariously through the images. Below are some of my favorites. All the photos were taken in Northern Greece and featured model, Sotiris Thomaidis by P2Photography. You can see the full line of the 2016 swimwear collection here and you can purchase these items in the US at International Jock.

Are you out in your place of work

National Coming Out DayFormer Apprentice reality television personality, Sanjay Sood-Smith, shared an interesting opinion in Attitude Magazine.  Sanjay discusses in his opinion piece why being out at work can transform your life and career (and has for him).

I first came out at work in the late 1990s shortly before I met Sergio and it is hard for me to imagine what my career and life (which at times have been incredibly entwined) would be like if I was unable or fearful of being out at work.

I realize that the ability to feel comfortable being out in your workplace and not having to worry about reprisals or being held back from promotion can depend on where you live and perhaps the kind of work you do, but that isn’t always the case. I know a few people in my office who have made a conscious decision to remain in the closet. Are you out at work? Do you also know people in your place of work who have decided to remain in the closet?
