Next week the Boston Ballet’s spring season kicks off with Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake, which was last performed in October 2014 and was described by Robert Greskovic of The Wall Street Journal as “artful” and “luminous”. Boston Ballet will welcome Gonzalo Garcia, principal dancer with New York City Ballet (NYCB), as a guest artist, performing Prince Siegfried on April 29 and 30.
Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake runs April 29–May 26 at The Boston Opera House. Due to the high-ticket demand, an additional performance has been added on May 25 at 7:30 pm, but don’t delay. Get your tickets which are on sale now.

From HuffingtonPost Prince, the legendary musician who brought us countless hits, such as “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry,” has died, TMZ reports. He was 57. The award-winning artist died on Thursday at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota. The cause of death has yet to be released.
News of Prince’s death has hit me the way many said they felt when David Bowie’s passing was reported. Not only was his music incredibly influential but his string of hits and protégés who he nurtured and encouraged was impressive to say the least. Although Prince’s influence had waned over the past 20 years, his legacy is impressive and it bothers me to write about his passing.
Writer-director John Hughes defined the 1980s American high school experience with teen comedies such as “The Breakfast Club,” “Pretty in Pink” and “Sixteen Candles.” CNN currently has a short online quiz that tells you which Hughes character you most resemble.
While a part of me seriously relates to Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) in Sixteen Candles, I did love Duckie from Pretty in Pink. Who would you be in the John Hughes movie universe? Take the quiz and let me know in the comments section which Hughes character you most resembled.
I want to dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. I like to think of my blog as an important, educational site that can help you expand your vocabulary. Today’s vocabulary word is one you would have heard a lot this past week with the Boston Marathon having just taken place. This week’s word is runnah
Runnah (rənah/ noun)
Definition: a person who runs
Example: That guy who won the Boston Marathon was a wicked fast runnah.
Each Wednesday morning I post a photograph and ask readers to offer a funny caption. Hopefully the caption below inspires you to share a few of your own. Much thanks to giantsorcowboys.tumblr.com, which posted this photo a while back. It has served as the inspiration for this week’s post.

If you have plans to visit New York City in the coming weeks or months you may want to stop by the museum at 26 Wooster Street in New York City to check out the exhibit, which opened on April 8th and runs through June 26th.

The exhibit explores the vibrant and liberating decade between the Stonewall Riots from 1969 through 1980, just before we heard the first rumblings of the AIDS crisis. The exhibition features over 115 works, including photographs, drawings and paintings made during this significant period in LGBTQ history.
The exhibit explores themes of political activism, body/self, fashion/style, and sexual freedom/expression.
Looking for an alternative to bars? Boston’s Gay Men’s Book Club which meets each month at the Trident Booksellers and Cafe might be the perfect option. Each month this group gathers to socialize and discuss a different book in one of my favorite bookshops in Boston.
In May the group will reconvene in the Back Bay to talk about the 2015 Best Seller, 720-page A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. The New York Times’ Jon Michaud wrote this piece in praise of the book back in April 2015, The Subversive Brilliance of “A Little Life”.
All are welcome to join when the group next meets on Monday, May 23rd at 7:00 PM at the Trident Booksellers and Cafe located near Mass Ave at 338 Newbury Street. Be sure to sign up to the “Meet Up” group and RSVP, here.
You can purchase a copy of the book on Amazon here.
Adrian De Berardinis (a.k.a. The Bear-Naked Chef) first got my attention late last year when he released a teaser video about his upcoming YouTube cooking series. He kept my attention (not an easy thing to do) with his easy to follow and delicious Italian recipes which he has a penchant for cooking in the buff in his home in California.
Looking to mix things up (or maybe just for a good excuse to travel), Chef Adrian hopped on a plane and has been spending time in Spain learning more about the local cuisine. Over the weekend he released this teaser video, promising to return with more fun to watch and easy to make recipes in May.
