120th Boston Marathon is today

Boston MarathonAll cities host events that are uniquely their own and while most cities around the world have marathons there is something incredibly special about the Boston Marathon. This annual tradition that dates back to 1897 is a signal that spring is here and just as The Regatta in October signals it is fall for many who call Boston home it is a tradition I’m both proud of and look forward to each year.

My heartfelt congratulations to everyone who participates in today’s venerable race and much thanks to the City of Boston and the thousands of volunteers who make this such an amazing event for all in the city to enjoy.Boston Marathon Race Day Schedule

About the Boston Marathon (Source: Wikipedia)
The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by the U.S. city of Boston, Massachusetts, on Patriots’ Day, the third Monday of April. Begun in 1897 and inspired by the success of the first modern-day marathon competition in the 1896 Summer Olympics, the Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world’s best-known road racing events. It is one of the five World Marathon Majors.

Modus Vivendi photo shoots captured on video

Modus Vivendi is one of my favorite design labels for underwear, swimwear and accessories. The European label has been on a tear lately introducing a series of new collections this year and along with those products come tantalizing photos. Recognizing the appeal of their campaigns Modus Vivendi has also released videos of some of their favorite photo shoots like the one I’ve included from their new “Hole Line” which was shot in the streets of Madrid by Joan Crisol.

Like these videos? Peruse their other photo shoot videos for some of their most popular new lines of underwear, swimwear and accessories here.

Massachusetts film tax credit

Massachusetts film tax creditIn July 2007 then Governor Deval Patrick signed into law the Massachusetts Film Tax Credit, to encourage movie producers from Hollywood and around the world to film here.  Since then it seems like Boston in particular has been overrun with both TV and Film production crews, although in fairness some very prominent films that feature Boston predate the tax credit like the 1970s romance Love Story and a personal favorite the 1997 Good Will Hunting.

Although it has been controversial, I am in favor of keeping the Massachusetts Film Tax Credit and despite the occasional inconvenience of film crews closing off streets, I think it is really cool to see parts of my home city featured in films – even when it is supposedly some place else (usually NYC).

Well over 100 movies and TV episodes have been filmed since the 2007 tax credit including: The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds (2009); The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale (2010), The Town with Ben Affleck (2010), TED with Seth McFarlane and Mark Wahlberg (2012); The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy (2013); American Hustle with Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper (2013); Spotlight with Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams (2015); and Ghostbusters 3 with Chris Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig (2016).

Max Emerson and Eric Angelo: Avoiding a Bottom Disaster

PURE for men, gay humorLast week Eric Angelo and Max Emerson teamed up to promote Pure for Men (it is an actual product! I thought it was a spoof!)

The one minute video is probably best described as gay potty humor and is appropriately entitled, Avoiding a Bottom Disaster. I thought this was hilarious but it may be too vulgar for others so don’t say I didn’t warn you first.
