Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may finally have some competition for world leader beefcake status if the French elect Emmanuel Macron to be their next President in a run off election scheduled for this Sunday. Macron is 39 and a former investment banker who has never before stood for elected office but was able to get nearly 24% of the vote in a 5-way race in late April.
Just to add fodder to my “beefcake” comments, this week, Garcon, a bi-monthly magazine that caters to gay men, had a shirtless Macron on their cover with the provocative headline “Coming out: a necessary fight.”
Macron is the decidedly more LGBTQ friendly candidate in the two person race for President on Sunday so the headline and cover story no doubt alludes to his support for our community. It also may be a bit of a double entendre, considering previous rumors he is gay. However, this seems like wishful thinking on the part of French gay men who may find themselves attracted to more than just Macron’s political views, considering the fact he has been happily married to a woman for a decade.
Lately, there have been so many events / programs to talk about in my Monday morning post What to do this week, I’m re-posting the events for this weekend.

One of Boston’s coolest parks, Lawn on D, opened this Monday, May 1, 2017 and as with each year it seems like the park offers something new to attract people to this patch of green surrounded by concrete.
Probably the biggest change (for the better) is that the Lawn on D now has a liquor license through their full-service bar, starting today, Thursday, May 4th. No surprise that the addition of alcohol has also led to an upgrade and changes with food options so check it out this weekend.
Look for new games to play like giant chess – perhaps like the set Sergio and I played when we were in Buzios, Brazil. Additionally Lawn on D will also have lawn checkers and a HUGE version of Connect Four.
Monday – May 8th – is “VE Day” short for Victory Europe Day. It is recognized in the US and England as the defeat of the German Nazi’s and an end to war in Europe. Rudolf Brazer (shown above laying on his side) is shown with a friend presumably in Germany somewhere prior to the outbreak of war. Rudolf has the distinction of being the last known concentration camp survivor deported by Nazi Germany on charges of homosexuality. He passed away on August 3, 2011.

Planning a trip to Provincetown this summer, or perhaps you live in Boston and know you will be making multiple trips? The Boston Harbor Cruise Co. (one of the two high speed ferry companies here in Boston with service to Provincetown) has their annual GroupOn running at the moment. Roundtrip tickets which normally cost $88 are on sale for $60. Grab them while they last – this deal will expire in three days if it doesn’t sell out first.
GroupOn BHC Coupon is here.
See their 2017 Ptown ferry schedule here.
The date for the fourth annual Heels for Hope, which goes to benefit BAGLY, has been announced and this year the event is changing days of the week and venue. Additionally, this year the event is selling tickets (purchase of a ticket also gets you a ticket for a Absolute cocktail).
This year Heels for Hope will take place on Monday, June 5th at Club Cafe. If you need a new pair of pumps for the event, I suggest supporting local businesses like Dorothy’s Costume Boutique where you can get ‘big girl’ sized shoes and even a fabulous wig to match if you want to accessorize.
When: Monday, June 5th || 7:00 – 10:00 PM
Where: Club Cafe
Tickets: Purchase tickets here before the event sells out
Much thanks to this year’s sponsors Absolute and Club Cafe for helping to make Heels for Hope 2017 possible.

This week I’m featuring a friend who lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. João Victor is a talented photographer who is every bit as handsome in person as he appears in this photo. He has a wicked smile and a sense of humor to match. As you would imagine, his IG account his full of artistic shots as well as fun shots of him goofing around with his models / friends which makes his account seem more real and less contrived.

Last week Boston joined a short list of cities that UberEats operates. The delivery service operates much like the company’s ride-sharing app. You download the app, log in, select a restaurant and order. You pay with the card you have on file and can watch as your order is delivered to wherever you are.
UberEats launched in 2015, and is available in Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Malden, Everett, Chelsea, Medford, and Brookline, with plans to expand to Arlington and Belmont.
