On view November 19, 2016 to March 12, 2017

The Peabody Essex Museum (P.E.M.) in Salem has an exhibit for all you fashionistas and shoe fanatics with their latest exhibit, Shoes: Pleasure and Pain.

According to the exhibit’s webpage, you can “explore the creativity of footwear from around the globe through more than 300 pairs of shoes, ranging from elaborate vintage designs to those by contemporary makers.”

The exhibit cannot but help remind me of this YouTube classic.

Seven reasons to move to Mass instead of Canada

Massachusetts legalize MarijuanaDid you hear? Americans crashed Canada’s Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship website Tuesday night as it became apparent that Donald Trump would become our nation’s next President. In response, The Boston Globe created an entertaining video citing seven reasons you should consider a move to Massachusetts instead.

I’ve done a copy and paste below but you can watch the video here.

1. If Obamacare is repealed, Massachusetts will still have universal health care. It’s been state law since 2006 and is what the Affordable Care Act was modeled on. It’s very popular, and it’s not going anywhere.

2. Ditto for marriage equality. Massachusetts’ highest court legalized same-sex marriage in 2004. So even if a conservative Supreme Court overturned itself on the issue, it would still be legal here.

3. Mass just legalized recreational marijuana on Tuesday.

4. Apparently, Massachusetts and Hawaii are the only states in the country in which every county voted for Hillary Clinton.

5. Aside from Mass. very popular (and moderate) governor, all statewide offices are held by Democrats, who also control both the state House and Senate.

6. If you REALLY need some poutine, Montreal is only a 6-hour drive from Boston.

7. Best of all, there is no convoluted immigration process with high hurdles to clear. Just aim toward New England and stop when every other store is a Dunkin’ Donuts.

11th annual Northeastern underwear run is tonight

As tradition has it, Northeastern’s annual underwear run always falls on the Friday night of parent’s weekend so if you are out and about tonight in the Back Bay don’t be shocked if you see a crowd of several hundred (last year it was about a thousand) students running down Huntington Avenue and Boylston Street in their underwear tonight.

Canadian video tells America “We think you’re great”

I really like (and appreciate) this video made by Canadians that came out earlier this month, sending a positive message to Americans and explaining why they think America is a really great place.

Michelle Obama speech in New Hampshire

Earlier today Michelle Obama responded to Donald Trump’s comments about how he has treated women in the past at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire. She succinctly articulated exactly what I was thinking but had failed to verbalize.

I am going to miss Michelle Obama. Growing up I thought of Jacqueline Kennedy as the ideal First Lady, but Michelle Obama has supplanted Jackie O as my favorite first lady. She inspires and motivates me, and I will miss her.

King Cobra movie trailer released today

King Cobra, Brent CorriganKing Cobra which comes out next month is based on the early rise of gay porn headliner Sean Paul Lockhart a.k.a. Brent Corrigan. The movie trailer has just become available so I’ve posted it below to share.

According to its IMDB page the movie is about “Sean Paul Lockhart a.k.a. Brent Corrigan before his falling out with the producer, Stephen, played by Christian Slater who made him famous. When Sean decides he’d be better off a free agent, a cash-strapped pair of rival producers aim to cash in by any means possible.”

King Cobra has an impressive cast including James Franco, Christian Slater, Molly Ringwald, Alicia Silverstone Garrett Clayton and Keegan Allen. Look for King Cobra in theaters starting Friday, October 21st.

The Pass starring Russell Tovey

LGBT filmFor all you Russell Tovey fans who miss seeing him on HBO’s Looking there is a new movie coming out where he plays a closeted gay footballer (that’s soccer for all of us here in the States). The film, The Passs, co-stars the very handsome Arinzé Kene.

The film takes on the story of a closeted player in three segments, one taking place every five years in the player’s life, as he grows from a teenager to an athlete  in the Champions League. Check out the new movie trailer.

I hope Boston’s gay film festival a.k.a., Wicked Queer Film Festival, March 30 – April 9, will include this in their line up.

And Still I Rise

Following yesterday’s somber reflections, I thought I’d share And Still I Rise from Maya Angelou.  While I understand the poem has nothing to do with the tragedy of September 11th I find it inspiring and full of hope.

Using a bidet for the first time

Chris ThompsonEarlier this month Chris Thompson, a vlogger I enjoy following on YouTube, taped his first experience using a bidet.

His clip was both hilarious and timely since Sergio and I are currently in Europe where bidets are in every bathroom. My favorite part of the quick clip comes when he initially turns on the bidet and the “lesson learned” that he shares.

If you liked Chris’ video, check out his YouTube channel: Sup Daily.
