The Boston Public Market
100 Hanover Street at Haymarket Station
Wednesday – Sunday, 8:00am – 8:00pm
Ever since the Boston Public Market opened this summer it seems that it has been doing a brisk business. Open Wednesday through Sunday, The Boston Public Market claims to be the only permanent, year-round, self-sustaining market to feature only fresh, locally sourced food in the U.S.
Should you have any out of town guests or friends you know who take an interest in such things I’d highly recommend adding this to your list of suggested places to visit. Additionally, if you happen to have a foodie on your holiday shopping list and you are struggling to find a gift for them or looking for a last minute gift or item to bring with you over the holidays, check out the market. The full list of Boston Public Market vendors is always available, here.
If you like this sort of thing, I’d suggest you like their Facebook page and check out their Instagram account for some great photos.
Each Monday morning I post a series of programs and events that are geared to the LGBT community here in Boston and to a lesser extent, Providence, Provincetown and Ogunquit, but with the holidays in full swing this week and many traveling or spending time with family I’m suspending this week’s post. Have a relaxing week devoid of stressful holiday shopping and other pressures.
Neighborhood rumblings about the rift between Chris Masci (owner of New England Open Markets) and Mario Nicosia (GTI Properties) have continued since my last post in early December, Can the South End host two farmer’s markets in the South End.
This past week I was contacted by another source who asked I not mention them by name. They indicated that Chris Masci has opted to expand his market on The Greenway to a three-day market (Friday – Sunday) and if true would presumably not host a South End farmer’s market in 2016. But this makes no sense to me since that would mean The New England Open Market would compete with the Boston Public Market (open Wed – Sun from 8AM-8PM). The Boston Public Market is close enough to be viable competition and it has the added advantages of having more vendors, public parking and access to the T.
I’m currently in Brazil and have not been able to connect with New England Open Markets to ask if this latest rumor is true but since my previous questions have either resulted in no response or denials about GTI hosting their SoWa Farmer’s market it is hard to say if I’d get a reliable response. Maybe larger blogs dedicated to such topics (e.g. EaterBoston or Hidden Boston) may be able to get more clarification. One thing that is quite clear, the proposed relocation of the South End Farmer’s Market under the I-93 expressway appears to be a deal breaker for many long-time vendors as yet another confirmed with me that they would not participate in the farmer’s market if it was located there.
The third Democratic Presidential debate is tonight in Manchester, New Hampshire. Due to its poor timing and the lack of theatrics surrounding the Democratic Party as compared to the Republican Party, the debate is likely to go largely unnoticed so I thought I’d give my candidate a plug.
Anyone who reads this blog knows that I love food and have a fondness for men with strong, hairy chests so when I read on Accidental Bear about Adrian De Berardinis, a.k.a. The Bear-Naked Chef on YouTube, I had to see for myself. Below is the teaser shared earlier this week via his YouTube Channel, which you can subscribe to follow here, THE BEAR-NAKED CHEF Adrian De Berardinis.
Adrian’s YouTube channel describes the series as a new and innovative cooking web-series cooking good food, NAKED….why not? Like what you’ve read? You may want to bookmark his website, www.bearnakedchef.com or you can like his page and follow him on Facebook.
This season’s winner of America’s Next Top Model, Nyle DiMarco, described himself as “sexually fluid” in a series of Tweets from earlier this fall, but what that means is subject to a lot of conjecture.
In an interview with Out Magazine earlier this month DiMarco talks about how much he looks up to male supermodel David Gandy and mentions a few female crushes, including fellow contestant Lacey and Jennifer Lawrence.
You can read the full interview on Out Magazine’s website here: ANTM Winner Nyle DiMarco.

This isn’t an article in the Onion or a SNL skit, although I seriously thought it was when I was emailed information about the kGoal Boost, a device designed to strengthen a man’s pelvic floor muscles. I have never heard of such a thing but apparently using the device can help increase a man’s strength and blood flow by the penis. Since many men obsess over such things Minna Life, the company behind the kGoal Boost, has launched a kickstarter campaign.
While this sounds a bit far fetched apparently there is some science behind it. The Mayo Clinic has activities men can do that don’t require buying the kGoal Boost, which you can read more about here.
As this post is publishing Sergio and I will be at the airport boarding our flight to Miami where we will then connect to fly to Brazil to spend the Christmas holiday with his family before going on to Sao Paulo where we will spend New Years Eve to ring in 2016. We would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
