Classic take on Gin & Tonic with Barr Hill Gin

cocktailEnjoy this new take on a classic cocktail. Caledonia Spirits Barr Hill Gin from Vermont makes an unique gin that incorporates raw honey which gives it a subtle floral quality. I suggest combining it with a quality tonic water and meyer lemon. Although this is a classic summer drink, I’ll be enjoying it through out the fall.

I was first introduced to this gin at Mare Oyster Bar in the North End. They have modified a popular vodka drink, The Moscow Mule, and use Barr Hill Gin with Ginger Beer, Lime, Black Tea Syrup and Boston Bitters to make their cocktail, Boston Buck, which I posted on Instagram, here.

Both cocktails are delicious, but my mixing skills are somewhat remedial so I’ll be sticking with the classic G&T this weekend.

LGBT Boston, gay life bostonAccording to a recent article in The Boston Courant, more than 12,000 millionaires call Boston home.  The Back Bay and South End seem to be the preferred neighborhoods for these wealthy residents, accounting for more than half of all the city’s millionaires. These two neighborhoods also saw the fastest growth in numbers of new millionaire residents. With luxury developments springing up through out Boston this number is expected to grow.  Just consider the impact of two developments like the Millennium Tower and new Four Seasons Hotel & Residences, which will add 600+ more million dollar properties in the next 12-18 months.

Luxe app brings valet parking on demand to Boston

valet app for parkingOne of the biggest gripes people have about driving in Boston has to do with parking.  The San Francisco start-up, Luxe, which rolled into Boston this spring has come up with an ingenious solution.

Luxe is a phone app that sounds incredibly simple to operate.  You open the app when you are nearing your destination and a Luxe agent will arrive to take your car away for however long you want.  When you want to leave, press the app again and wait for the valet to return your car.

Luxe Boston Valet App for your phone

Luxe is now available in more than a half dozen cities through out the U.S. including San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle on the West Coast, Austin and Chicago in the Midwest and Boston, NYC and Philadelphia on the East Coast.

Let me know if you’ve used this app here in Boston or elsewhere and share your thoughts. I’m more than a little curious to hear your thoughts.
