First Friday tonight

First Friday from 5-9 PM

Come to 450 Harrison Ave. to meet local artists and view their work from 5-9PM tonight. The First Friday of each month more than 60 artists open their studios in the 450 Harrison building.

Local galleries also support First Fridays by remaining open like, Boston Sculptor’s Gallery at 486 Harrison Avenue.  So take advantage of the beautiful weather; come out to see and support our local art scene.

About Mr. Teddy: Alec, Mark and Teddy found true love two years ago when Alec brought Teddy home for a three way and Teddy never left.  Like everyone, Teddy comes with some baggage, namely a Teddy Bear and a desire to call Marc and Alec his “Daddies”.  All is bliss until Alec’s friend, Allison, insists that Teddy is suffering delayed development and he must be pushed to grow up and leave his Daddies behind if he is ever to find true happiness.  Patrick, a friend of all three men, finally sees his chance to steal Teddy away for himself. The resulting confrontations have explosive consequences for everyone involved.

BosGuy cooks brussel sprouts

bosguy cooksRoasted brussel sprouts seem to be very trendy at the moment. I love roasted veggies and brussel sprouts in particular are quite nutritious; rich in protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants so I thought I’d suggest this easy recipe.  The prep work is very easy and if you use tinfoil you needn’t even dirty a single pan – total prep and cooking time is 40 minutes.

bosguy cooks

Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees then soak the sprouts in salted water for a few moments to help remove any dirt.  After, chop the stem and remove any discolored outer leaves. Aside from mincing a garlic clove, this is all the food prep required.

bosguy cooksOnce the brussel sprouts have been prepped you will need 1/4 cup of good extra virgin olive oil (enough to thoroughly coat the sprouts), a minced clove of garlic, a few pinches of salt and a ziploc bag that you can use to incorporate the ingredients.

bosguy cooksOnce you’ve added everything in the ziploc bag – give it a thorough shaking. You want the salt, garlic and olive oil to cover / coat the sprouts to add flavor and prevent them from drying out or burning when you roast them in the oven.

Pour out the brussel sprouts, garlic and salt into a cookie sheet lined with tinfoil (to make the clean up easier) and insert the tray into the oven at 400 F for 30 minutes. Shake / stir the sprouts every 10 minutes to help the vegetables cook more evenly. They are delicious when you take them out of the oven, but beware – they are extremely hot. bosguy cooks

Chelsea Handler

Chelsea HandlerChelsea Handler’s popular show, Chelsea Lately, on E Television will end on Tuesday, August 26th.  I’m  not sure what is next for the author of Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea.  Her show has given a number of comedians an excellent platform, and I really liked her format which is very different from other night time talk shows on television.

I have no idea who will follow Stephen Colbert after he replaces David Letterman on CBS, but I’d love to see her follow Stephen and replace the Craig Ferguson Late Show.

What percentage of Americans have ever…

Even though I read this article last week, I figured it would be fitting to post it following my weekly “Temptation Tuesday”.  Last week Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight website shared results of what percentage of the population masturbate.

This topic could conceivably cross the line for my pg-13 rated blog, but I figured I’d write about it because I find it strange that this remains a taboo topic considering the data.  I can understand the discomfort one might have if I were a parent talking my child, but this remains a taboo subject for many in society; especially women. nate silver, fivethirtyeight.comI’m not looking for any confessions; how you spend your time is your business. Rather I’m just pointing out the irony of American culture and how strange our views towards sex and sexual pleasure remain even in 2014.
