Sinner’s Ball Weekend in Ogunquit, ME

Maine Street

This weekend is the 2nd annual Sinner’s Ball in Ogunquit, Maine. The party starts Friday with “SERVICE” the uniform ball.

Saturday is the second annual “SINNER’S BALL” that is hosted by my friends, the notorious Maverick Men.

The 3-day party concludes on Sunday with “Repentance” Power Tea.  Have fun guys. I’ll be heading up to Ogunquit the following weekend and can hardly wait.

More info on the Facebook event page, here.

Sounds like my readers are about to be cuffed, although I’m fairly certain there are more than a few of you who would find that a bit of a turn on.

Vintage hunk

paul_newmanWhile scanning Gay.net earlier this week I stumbled upon their post, Vintage Hunk: Paul Newman.

There are few actors who I can think of who aged as gracefully as Paul Newman but then again so few are as blessed genetically. Paul Newman was able to turn heads nearly his entire adult life.

He and Elizabeth Taylor were so beautiful on screen together in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, I have to wonder why movie studio executives didn’t make them work together more often.

Who / which leading actors from years past would you label as a “Vintage Hunk”?

Kristin Chenoweth’s Anthony Weiner ‘Popular’ Parody

Kristin-ChenowethDid you happen to catch Broadway superstar Kristin Chenowith on the Jay Leno Tonight Show on Tuesday?  She was hilarious as usual, but her performance at the end of the show really had me laughing out loud.  Singing to the tune of Popular from the Tony Award winning musical, Wicked, Ms. Chenowith schools Anthony Weiner on how to be the “right kind of popular.”

Dan Savage says #DumpStoli

Last Wednesday Dan Savage’s post Why I’m Boycotting Russian Vodka made news with a number of prominent gay bloggers, but was barely reported elsewhere.  Since then many of Russia’s leading LGBT activists have stepped forward encouraging the boycott.  However, critics claim the boycott has had little traction and prominent gay bars like the soon-to-close Splash in NYC just hosted a Stoli event yesterday. Does that mean that his call to boycott Russian vodka failed?  I don’t think so.

It’d be great to see gay bars stop serving Russian vodka, but even if the boycott falls short, Savage should be credited for raising awareness and fostering dialog.  As John Aravosis from Americablog says, “the point of a boycott isn’t always the boycott itself…Rather, the boycott is a tool – a foil, really – to foment and galvanize public ire in a way that generates publicity…

If the boycott temporarily drives down sales of Russian Vodka that’s fine – but what Savage and others really want is to get people talking about what is happening in Russia and have those discussions create pressure on that government to stop targeting the LGBT community.

dump-russia-vodkaWould you like to join the boycott? Here is a list of Russian vodkas currently available in the US: Dovgan, Gold Symphony, Standart, Hrenovuha, Kauffman , Kubanskaya, Moskovskaya, Narodnaya, Pyatizvyozdnaya, Putinka, Rodnik, Ruskova, Russian Standard, Shustov, Starka, Stolnaya, Youri Dolgoruki. The two best known Russian vodkas: Russian Standard and Stolichnaya.

You may also Tweet your support if you are into that sort of thing by using the hashtags #DUMPSTOLI and #DUMPRUSSIANVODKA.

Yunus and Devon at Boatslip

Boatslip in ProvincetownIf you have visited The Boatslip in Provincetown this summer to catch some sun on their deck, chances are either Yunus or Devon (shown above) have grabbed your chairs and helped you get situated.   Our previous trip to Provincetown during 4th of July was when we met Devon and on this more recent visit since it was more quiet we were able to talk to both guys a bit more.

Yunus is originally from Turkey but now lives in Massachusetts near where he is going to college.  Devon is from Vermont originally but is currently attending school in Rhode Island.  If you happen to see these guys, tell them that BosGuy says hello and slip an extra dollar in the tip jar for these two students.

Madonna

MadonnaJust a few days ago I was reminded by Joe.My.God that Madonna’s first album was released three decades ago.  Want to make me feel old – keep reminding me of that fact. I have to admit over the years I’ve taken flak for my fascination with Madonna, but I really don’t care. I still love her music.

Rolling Stone had a bunch to say about the album, but this is the line that stuck with me “Madonna issues an irresistible invitation to the dance.”  The amazing thing is I think she still does even though her contemporaries are all but gone.

Here is one of my favorite songs from that album.

Dining at Ten Tables Provincetown

Provincetown DiningThis past weekend we joined a few friends for a relaxing dinner at Ten Tables in Provincetown. While I routinely review restaurants, today’s post is not about our food (although I will say I enjoyed my meal). Today’s post is about the company who joined us for dinner at Ten Tables: Slobodan in the dark polo shirt, followed by Frédéric and his fiance, Olivier, both in white. Frédéric and Olivier are originally from France, Slobodan is Serbian, and Sergio is Brazilian; making me the token American.

Ten Tables ProvincetownDinner provided us the perfect opportunity to spend a couple of hours together talking about life, work, Provincetown, etc… Although I’ve spent time 1:1 with everyone and consider them friends, the five of us have never shared a meal together.  There is something really fantastic about spending a couple of hours over a meal with such an interesting group of men.

At one point in the evening, I stepped back, watching my partner and friends interacting, and made a note that Sergio and I need to do this more often.

P.S.Can you tell that facial hair is quite “in” at the moment?

P.P.S. Can you tell that I hadn’t shaved in 4 days? I suppose I’ll just have to wait for the preppy look to come back again.

Temptation Tuesday

Temptation TuesdayI’d like to start including photographs of friends and readers of this blog for some of my weekly “man candy” posts. I got the idea after looking at the photos of friends who posed for us at the Manhunt Mansion Pool Party.

Marco was gracious enough to take me up on my request to be this week’s “Temptation”, and I think you’ll agree he’s quite tempting. However, Marco has more than just good looks, this Italian from Sardinia who now calls Boston home is also a sweetheart with a great sense of humor.

I hope this week’s post inspires others to reach out for a future Temptation Tuesday post.  Do you have someone in mind who’d make for a good Temptation Tuesday? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.

Autocorrect This is only so funny because it is so true. You would think we would all become better about proofreading our texts – but you’d be wrong.

Red Sox

Red SoxThe playoffs are still a couple months away, but now that we are firmly in the second half of the major league baseball season most Boston Red Sox fans find themselves pleasantly smug.  The drama and bad energy associated with last  season is a distant memory.  Does it make me smile to see the NY Yankees near the bottom of the barrel? Maybe a little 😉

The weekend is over. Time to get up and get to work.  😦

Summertime

SummertimeAugust starts later this week which means thousands of returning college students and cooler temperatures are now just weeks away.

Make the most of August and enjoy the final month of summer in the city.  I’ll be making at least one more dash down to Provincetown for Carnival as well as spending a weekend up in Ogunquit, ME as well as Wolfboro, NH.

Do you have any plans you are looking forward to in August?
