Last weekend we left Belo Horizonte and we are now spending time relaxing by the beach. It has reminded me how much I miss watching the swimming and diving events from the Summer Olympics in London.

This Guinness advertisement was first produced nearly 20 years ago (1995) but it never aired, which is a shame because I love it.

Last spring while staying at the Westin Copley Place I noticed signs encouraging guests to rent New Balance sneakers and work out clothes for just $5 to make it easier to squeeze in a workout while traveling. It looks like the program was successful, because the hotel chain has announced it is now available in all 190 Westin Hotels.
The gear lending program will deliver New Balance sneakers and clothing to your room. The sneakers come with socks that are brand new and yours to keep as well as fresh and clean clothing in your size. Upon departure, guests simply leave the items in their room in the mesh bag everything was delivered.
You may read more about this program at westinnewbalance.com. I love this idea. Would you be inclined to try out the program?

I am currently visiting Sergio’s family in hot and humid Brazil where speedos are common but the cold is a distant memory. While we are away, I wanted to give Sergio a plug since he is participating in the Santa Speedo Run next month and needs to do some fundraising.
A modest donation of $10 or $25 to help him raise money for this year’s charity, Play Ball Foundation, would be greatly appreciated by him.

At this point of the day most Americans are catatonic because they ate too much turkey. In honor of the food coma you may find yourself, I thought I’d share these classic photos of turkeys (both of the animal and political variety). Can you believe it was just 4 short years ago America was able to say good bye to President George W. Bush, and Governor Sarah Palin was rebuffed by a horrified electorate watching her pardon a turkey in honor of Thanksgiving while another is being slaughtered behind her during a television interview.
Here I’m posing by street art (or graffiti depending on your perspective) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil from earlier this week. It reminded me that the Os Gemos exhibit at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art closes this weekend.
If you’ve not had a chance to check out this first solo exhibition in the United States of works by the Brazilian brothers Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo consider grabbing tickets before the show closes on November 25th.
