Supreme Court forced to rule on Marriage Equality

marriage equalityToday the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) agreed to take on same-sex marriage issue and hopefully settle this once and for all.  CNN reports that division in lower courts that manifested after Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and Michigan – all in the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the national trend and upheld gay marriage bans is what likely forced the hand of SCOTUS.

You can read the full report on CNN here.  CNN also has a rather interesting article speculating on the impact this decision could have on the Republican Primary in a post here.

Hollywood Glamour on display at MFA Boston exhibit

Hollywood Glamour, MFAWith nominations for the 2015 Oscars announced today, I wanted to write about an exhibit at the MFA Boston that opened this past fall and may be of interest to those of you attracted to Hollywood glamour.

The MFA exhibit “Hollywood Glamour: Fashion and Jewelry from the Silver Screen” presents designer gowns and exquisite jewelry from the 1930s and ‘40s. The exhibition focuses on the iconic style of Hollywood starlets from that period, including Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich and Joan Crawford to name a few. Enjoy a glimpse of Hollywood in the Golden Age of glamour.  The MFA exhibit closes Sunday, March 8, 2015.

Wine and cheese pairings guide

wine and cheese pairingsI stumbled upon this pairings guide and while I would always encourage individuals to pair whatever they like, I recognize that guides like this can be helpful for those who may not know where to start.

For those who live locally, I would strongly suggest visiting Formaggio and let them know what wine you are purchasing.  They make excellent suggestions.

Where in the world would you travel

gay travel,If money and time was not an issue, what one destination would you put on your “Must See” list for 2015?  I often write about traveling but only get away from New England one or two times a year for pleasure.

There are so many places I would like to see that it would be tough to limit my answer to just one location.  However, I’ve always wanted to visit Cape Town South Africa and I do regret not having visited New Zealand when Sergio and I went to Australia back in 2009 so those two destinations would rank high on my “Must See”.  Where would you like to visit if you could go anywhere in the world and why?

gay, hankerchief I nabbed this photo from a post from Kenneth in the 212 a while back. I thought it was begging for some funny captions.  Impress me with your sense of humor.

Wine review: The Prisoner

wine review, napa valley wineryThis past week I purchased a bottle of The Prisoner at the Whole Foods in my neighborhood.  The wine is named after the winery “The Prisoner Wine Co.” and was ranked #89 on the Wine.com 100 of 2014, but it was the brooding rendering on the label that intrigued me enough to make the purchase.

The wine is a blend that mostly comprises Zinfandel but also includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Charbono, and Grenache. Upon pouring a glass of the wine the aroma made my mouth water.  Hints of cherry and licorice are followed by others that are hard to place but not hard to enjoy.

Although this would be an easy wine for me to have on its own, I paired it with a d’affinois cheese with truffles (similar to a very creamy brie).  If you enjoy  reds and creamy brie cheese you may want to consider opening this when nobody else is around so you needn’t share. The Whole Foods South End has The Prisoner on sale for $39.99.  Online prices for the 2013 bottle ranging from $39.99 – $50.00.

travelA surprise business trip means that I will be flying out to California for work for the next few days and may be slow to respond.

Despite the fact that I’ll be inside conference rooms all day long, I’m still happy to get away from the cold that has gripped Boston if even for just a few days.

Thank you for your patience if I’m slow to approve any comments, post on Facebook & Twitter or respond to email.
