Tales of the CityArmistead Maupin will be returning to Provincetown during Bear Week this year.  He’ll be reading from his latest work and sharing anecdotes and insights at The Crown & Anchor Sunday, July 13th.

I love this photo of Sergio hanging with Armistead at the Crown & Anchor back in 2012. He is a very friendly and approachable guy.

This week The Boston Globe reported that developer Don Chiofaro is reviving his effort to build a pair of skyscrapers along Boston Harbor.  His previous 2009 plan to develop this real estate had been blocked by Mayor Menino, but with a new Mayor in Boston it appears that Mr. Chiofaro has come back with a new plan proposing a 600′ complex that he says will “wow”.

The $1 billion project, that would redefine Boston’s skyline and waterfront still needs approval, includes about 1.3 million square feet of commercial and residential space; 700,000 square feet of offices, up to 300 hotel rooms, 120 luxury condominiums and three levels of stores and restaurants.

Ogunquit bound

Gay Ogunquit BeachIf you are not from the northeast you may not be familiar with Ogunquit, Maine.  However, this southern Maine, coastal town is a popular alternative to Provincetown for the LGBT community.

This weekend Sergio and I will be in Ogunquit with friends who have a beautiful home just outside the center of town and near the beach. For those unfamiliar with Ogunquit but interested in learning more, feel free to contact me or you can also check out online, gayogunquit.com.

Happy Pride Toronto, NYC, San Francisco, Houston, Seattle and Minneapolis

Happy Pride doggieThis weekend the US will host some of our largest Pride celebrations and just to our north World Pride in Toronto will also be in full swing.

While I apologize for missing cities that may be celebrating Pride this week, I certainly want to wish everyone in New York City, San Francisco, Houston, Seattle and Minneapolis a great weekend.

BosGuy brain teaser

brain teaser, rodinEach Friday morning I post a riddle to try to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.  If you are stumped, feel free to get help or share it with a friend or colleague to see if you can figure it out together.  Most of these stump me so don’t feel bad if you can’t figure it out right away.

I’ll confirm answers later in the day so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance.

This week’s riddle:  It cannot be seen, it weighs nothing, but when put into a barrel, it makes it lighter. What is it?

Like riddles? Check out past week’s brain teasers.

One minute parking

Parking humorI have no idea where this sign is but I thought it was hilarious when it was sent to me. This clearly is an error and they must mean one hour parking.  Can you imagine?

Indiana says “I do” to marriage equality

marriage equality, gay rightsYesterday, US District Court Judge Richard Young ruled against Indiana’s statute banning marriage equality, making Indiana the latest state to see their marriage ban struck down since the US Supreme Court ruled in its historic marriage ruling last June.

Judge Young wrote, “In time, Americans will look at the marriage of couples such as Plaintiffs, and refer to it simply as marriage – not same sex marriage.

Congratulations Indiana – and welcome to the 21st century.

Mount Auburn Cemetery

Mount Auburn CemetaryFounded in 1831, The Mount Auburn Cemetery is the final resting place for some very famous Bostonians including Mary Baker Eddy, Isabella Stewart Gardner, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to name a few.  Consecrated in 1831 this is the Nation’s first landscaped cemetery and is a National landmark. The space is too large to see in one visit but the exquisite grounds with sculptures and romantic landscape makes this worth visiting.  At the cemetery’s highest point resides a 60+ foot granite tower in honor of President Washington that provides an exceptional view of Boston and the cemetery.
