Boston butt

Boston ButtBosGuy blog reader, Mark, forward me this photograph last week after visiting the Publix grocery store in Wilton Manors, Florida.  Mark gave me a good laugh, sending me this photo with the message “Oddly the second I saw it I thought of you and your blog.”

Thank you Mark.

Farm & Fable to open in South End

Farm and FableFarm & Fable, a vintage cookbook kitchen shop that has space to host cooking demonstrations and classes, will open a new retail space on the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Milford Street across from Coppa Boston in the South End.

I’m relieved to see this space will be home to a new retail shop.  With Formaggio and the Syrian Market just across the street and a number of cafes, restaurants and other retailers on this block I hope there will be sufficient foot traffic for this specialty shop.

While construction continues at 251 Shawmut Avenue, you may follow Farm & Fable on Twitter at @FarmAndFable or check out their Facebook page.

Man’s night out at MiniLuxe

PedicureMy friend, Sean Donovan better known by his Twitter handle, @BostonMo, in partnership with Miniluxe hosted a “MANicurious Party” last week and yours truly was invited.

Joining me was an eclectic mix men about town including, Jonathan Soroff, @Jonathan_Soroff, writer at The Improper Bostonian; Alex Weaver, @AlexEWeaver, writer at BostInno.com, Jeff Lahens, pro stylist and founder of @DressCodeBoston; Matthew Simko, @SoTacky33, writer and curator of @Chubstr, and me.

It was a fun evening watching some of the guys who obviously had never had a manicure or pedicure sit beside veterans like Jonathan Soroff who had opted to paint his toes a color I think he referred to as “St. Bart’s blue”.

I’m not going to try and convince those who are uncomfortable at the thought of splurging on a bit of pampering, but I have a sneaking suspicion there are frightfully few who read my blog who would have such an aversion.  If you’ve not visited MiniLuxe I would suggest giving them a try. The staff at the Newbury Street location could not have been more friendly. If Newbury Street isn’t convenient – note that MiniLuxe has locations in: Brookline, Chestnut Hill, Hingham, Lexington, Newton and Wellesley.

MiniLuxe has generously offered a 20% discount off men’s services and waxing if you use the code: BOSGUY13

Happy Father’s Day

DadThis weekend I am up at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire to spend time with my family and to celebrate Father’s Day.  This is a photo of my Dad on his boat last summer up at the lake.  I wanted to dedicate this post to my father and all the other Dad’s out there. I wouldn’t want to imagine my life without him. He’s the single most amazing man I’ve ever met and I love him dearly.

Scruffy Sunday

Scruffy SundayI figure he’s either a ballet dancer or an athlete.  Who else wears white tights? Either way, I can’t imagine why one would ever get out of bed if he was in it.

So pretty

Earlier this week Facebook and Twitter were awash with beautiful photographs of a brilliant rainbow that spanned much of Boston.  Enjoy these pictures.

Back Bay This is a photograph looking out over Huntington Avenue from The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. I love how picture includes Dallin’s statue “Appeal to the Great Spirit’.  It looks like he’s giving thanks to the rainbow.

Back Bay RainbowHere is another favorite. I love this view from Cambridge of the Back Bay neighborhood with the muted colors in the Charles River.

Like what you see? The Boston Globe did a great job collecting photos that were posted on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, here.

wrong numberHave you seen this video “Love at first sight”?  If you need a good laugh, definitely check this out.  According to the person who posted this video, this person called him, but he had not gone out that night.

PS – If you feel the need to make a similar call later tonight, heed my advice – Don’t. 😉
