Massachusetts bipartisan bromance
In an age where politicians from different political parties barely acknowledge each other, Boston’s Mayor Marty Walsh and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker have what appears to be a healthy and productive working relationship. Late yesterday, “Hello Gov, it’s Marty” Adele Spoof, a video hosted on Vimeo started making its rounds and was picked up by boston.com.
The video celebrates with more than a bit of humor their wooing of GE to move their world headquarters to Boston.
Nonstop service to Lisbon starts in June

Nonstop service starts a week before Lisbon Pride this June
TAP Portugal has announced daily nonstop service between Boston and Lisbon will start June 11, 2016. TAP Portugal also announced a partnership with JetBlue out of Logan and JFK to help them provide more connections for passengers.
I’ve not had a chance to visit Lisbon yet, but it is on my short list of destinations to see. My friend, Jesse, shared this photo from his previous visit to Lisbon, Portugal. For those who may be contemplating a visit, Lisbon Pride parade and festival will take place on Saturday, June 18th; one week after nonstop service starts from Boston. The state of gun violence in the US
“America doesn’t have a gun problem. It has several of them.”
The debate over gun regulation in the US seems intractable, but there is one fact that both sides can agree on: Mass shootings are just the tip of a very complicated gun problem in America. This video runs though several charts that tries to breakdown and explain the state of gun violence in America.
Unfortunately elected officials and the nation’s largest gun lobby, the National Rifle Association (NRA), believe the only way to mitigate gun violence in the US is to better arm everyone – despite the fact that gun violence appears to be directly related to the number of guns available. So where does that leave us?

Men’s underwear preferences
Back in December I wrote a post and included an infographic about gay men’s underwear preferences that had been created and shared by The Underwear Expert blog, which you can read here.
Earlier this month HuffingtonPost published an article after teaming up with AskMen who surveyed 650 men about their underwear preferences. Below is the infographic that they compiled based on their research.
Interestingly, there was a difference in preference with The Underwear Expert blog that focused on gay men sharing that they preferred briefs (27%) and boxer briefs (22%) to the AskMen / HuffingtonPost survey which found that the overwhelming number of men buy boxer briefs (58%).

Boston Chops burger party Sunday, March 20
One of my favorite restaurants in Boston has just ensured that I’ll be stopping by on Sunday night when they serve their absolutely delicious hamburger (free of charge) at the bar starting at 10PM on Sunday, March 20th.
For those who will be out enjoying Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday, pace yourself, and I’ll see you at the bar at Boston Chops.
Study finds meditation changes the brain and body
Last month The NYT had an interesting article, How Meditation Changes the Brain and Body, I thought I’d share. It references a study published in February in Biological Psychiatry that brings some reputable science suggesting meditation can change our brains and potentially improve our health.
Brain scans of those who participated in the study which you can read about in the links provided above showed that those who meditated had more brain activity or communication among the portions of their brain that process stress-related reactions and other areas related to focus and calm.
I don’t meditate but the article made me think that maybe I should try to set aside 10-15 minutes and make time for meditation. Do you meditate regularly? If so, I’d love to hear from you and to get your thoughts on the study’s findings.

Late night $5 flat fares on Uber start this weekend
The MBTA’s failure to provide late night service opens the door for services like Uber to roll out $5 flat fares starting this weekend.
Angry with the MBTA for ending late night service on the weekends? Uber has stepped up to the plate and will be offering $5 flat fares for trips along the MBTA subway lines on its uberPool service starting March 19th and running through April 9th. The following is from the Uber Newsroom earlier this month.
The end of late night service on the T will have an impact on thousands of people who will be seeking an alternative safe ride home during early hours. In an effort to continue connecting Bostonians to the people, places, and businesses they love, we will be offering $5 uberPOOL rides along T subway lines during late night hours for four weekends starting on March 19th.
