Friday cannot come fast enough

Boston GuyIt is Thursday afternoon and after tomorrow I will be out of the office for an entire week.

I can hardly wait to turn on my email out of office message and turn off my computer.  It has been a very long month and I’m ready to let go and relax for more than 48 hours.

Do  you have any plans for the coming weekend? Do tell.

Wesley Warren’s 100lbs scrotum

100lbs ScrotumFile this post under “Gross and Disgusting”. Wesley Warren Jr. suffers from a bizarre medical condition that has resulted in excessive watery fluid collecting around his testicles (Eeewww!!!)

Wesley denies he has turned down the chance to have surgery because he likes the notoriety.  The surgery does carry significant risk that his penis and testicles could have to be completely removed if surgeons couldn’t stop the bleeding (again Eeewww!!!)

Whatever the real reason, I can’t help but feel badly for this man walking around with a 100lbs scrotum.  Ick… Can’t stop reading? You can check out the full story on Huffington Post.

Suddenly it makes sense

LacrosseI know that I’ve previously mentioned my admiration and my complete lack of understanding pertaining to lacrosse, which appears to entail running like a mad man and whacking people with their sticks.  There is something very impressive about this photo of lacrosse player, Scott Rogers.  The even if the game seems utter nonsense, the nature of the appeal is returning and suddenly it all makes sense again.

CNN Headline: Affordable Care Act constitutional

ACA RulingThere are nuances and changes in particular with regards to Medicaid as I understand it but conservative Chief Justice Roberts surprised everyone by ruling with the court’s more liberal justices in a 5-4 split court decision.

Philip Defranco: Oreo controversy

I’m sure by now you’ve seen the rainbow Oreo cookie picture and perhaps you’ve even heard about the ridiculous backlash from the Evangelicals and Christian Conservatives in the US.

Yesterday’s Philip DeFranco Show on YouTube pretty much summed up my feelings about this too.

It’s a f*cking cookie guys!?! Chill

You can watch the entire broadcast or just listen to the bit about “Oreo-gate” since he leads with the story.

Supreme Court to rule on Affordable Care Act today

Affordable Care ActAt 10:00AM Eastern the US Supreme Court – the highest court in the country – will rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act President Obama signed into law back in 2010.

While the rest of the world sits around dumbfounded by our health care system wondering why providing universal care would be a bad idea, I will be sitting at my desk following the SCOTUS blog, which will be live blogging.  I’m fairly certain aspects of the legislation are likely to be found unconstitutional. I say this because most of the Supreme Court’s rulings under Chief Roberts have been split decisions (5-4) along political lines. My fingers are crossed that the Affordable Care Act which is based on my state’s health care system will be upheld.

What are your thoughts about this debate?

Davy a.k.a. CuteLiberal on Twitter posted this quote from Dorothy Parker earlier in the week and it gave me a good chuckle.  I thought you might enjoy it as well. If you are on Twitter, check out and follow @CuteLiberal.

Gandy candy

David GandyFrom time to time I like to insert a photograph of David Gandy, a 30-something English model with a stunningly handsome face and body to match. I refer to these random posts as “Gandy candy” for obvious reasons.  Not sure who the lucky photographer was but I found this on the aptly named tumblr site, Candy Gandy.

Fitness tips from Kris Kranzky

Personal FitnessFor the past month I’ve been posting fitness tips from my trainer Kris Kranzky from the Boston Sports Club in the South End.

This week he shares his workout routine. Kris works out for five days and rests for two; his routine typically includes: Monday/ Chest; Tuesday/ Back; Wednesday/ Legs; Thursday/ Shoulders; Friday/ Arms.

Before each workout Kris starts with a 20-minute cardio, using a high intensity interval training setting on a bike or treadmill; followed by 40 minutes of weight training.  His goal is to complete approximately 120 reps per muscle group meaning if he does four sets of four exercises he would do 8-10 reps per set to 8 x 4 x 4 = 128 reps.

Suggested military recruitment photo

gays in the military

Why do they call this hand-to-hand combat training? I think here in Boston we refer to this as “straddling”. Its funny how different parts of the country use different words to describe the same thing.

I snagged this photograph from the Bill in Exile blog.   If the armed forces are struggling with meeting their recruitment numbers, I highly recommend releasing more of these images.

Provincetown 2012 summer line up

With summer in full swing, many of Provincetown’s biggest acts are nearly sold out.  If you are planning a trip to Ptown later this summer, check out their local theater and get tickets to one of the many shows that play every night.

This summer guests like Patti Lupone, Pam Ann, Margaret Cho, Miss Coco Peru, Charles Busch, and Meghan Mullally will all be performing in Provincetown for a limited number of shows.  You can also check out one of the many “regular” shows including Varla Jean Merman’s show Topping Myself,  Jamie Morris and Brooks Braselman’s show Mommie Queerest, Ms Richfield 1981 show this summer, 2012 We’ll all be dead by Christmas, and Ryan Landry’s Mary Poppers just to name a few.

Most (but not all) performances happen at the Provincetown Art House or the Crown and Anchor.  Do yourself a favor and purchase tickets in advance for one night when you are staying in Ptown. I promise you’ll enjoy yourself and be happy you went to one of the many shows.

Things that make BosGuy go hmm…

Not really sure what kind of person would ever want to be out in public with a “TV Hat”.  Seems like the kind of device a bad science fiction movie from 1960s would concoct. I can think of more than a few people who I wish would wear this contraption if only so I wouldn’t have to look at their face, but then that’s not such a nice thing to say so I won’t mention names.

Weekend at Lake Winnipesaukee

Four years ago my family built a second home on Lake Winnipesaukee just a few miles from the center of Wolfboro.  The house is large enough to comfortably accommodate everyone, which makes the home ideal for family gatherings like we had this past weekend.

The weather all weekend in central NH was beautiful with the exception of some brief rainfall that came through early in the evening on Saturday after we had spent the day at the beach and went for a ride on Dad’s new toy.  I spent the weekend relaxing with family and eating far too much.

Temptation Tuesday

Boston GuyFeeling tempted?  When I look at this picture I feel like I’m in someone’s bedroom in Miami.  Maybe I’m just projecting since its probably exactly where I’d like to be with someone so sexy.

What do you think of this week’s Temptation Tuesday?
