Next week the Boston Ballet’s spring season kicks off with Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake, which was last performed in October 2014 and was described by Robert Greskovic of The Wall Street Journal as “artful” and “luminous”.  Boston Ballet will welcome Gonzalo Garcia, principal dancer with New York City Ballet (NYCB), as a guest artist, performing Prince Siegfried on April 29 and 30.

Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake runs April 29–May 26 at The Boston Opera House. Due to the high-ticket demand, an additional performance has been added on May 25 at 7:30 pm, but don’t delay. Get your tickets which are on sale now.

It has been reported that Prince has died

PrinceFrom HuffingtonPost Prince, the legendary musician who brought us countless hits, such as “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry,” has died, TMZ reports. He was 57. The award-winning artist died on Thursday at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota. The cause of death has yet to be released.

News of Prince’s death has hit me the way many said they felt when David Bowie’s passing was reported. Not only was his music incredibly influential but his string of hits and protégés who he nurtured and encouraged was impressive to say the least.  Although Prince’s influence had waned over the past 20 years, his legacy is impressive and it bothers me to write about his passing.

Bear-Naked Chef Adrian De Berardinis visits Spain

gay, cooking, naked-chefAdrian De Berardinis (a.k.a. The Bear-Naked Chef) first got my attention late last year when he released a teaser video about his upcoming YouTube cooking series. He kept my attention (not an easy thing to do) with his easy to follow and delicious Italian recipes which he has a penchant for cooking in the buff in his home in California.

Looking to mix things up (or maybe just for a good excuse to travel), Chef Adrian hopped on a plane and has been spending time in Spain learning more about the local cuisine.  Over the weekend he released this teaser video, promising to return with more fun to watch and easy to make recipes in May.

Max Emerson and Eric Angelo: Avoiding a Bottom Disaster

PURE for men, gay humorLast week Eric Angelo and Max Emerson teamed up to promote Pure for Men (it is an actual product! I thought it was a spoof!)

The one minute video is probably best described as gay potty humor and is appropriately entitled, Avoiding a Bottom Disaster. I thought this was hilarious but it may be too vulgar for others so don’t say I didn’t warn you first.

Crushing on Bryan Bautista from The Voice

Bryan Bautista from The Voice

I’ve been watching The Voice this season and have to admit I’ve developed a little bit of a crush on the handsome and charming contestant Bryan Bautista.  I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one – just last week guest coach Miley Cyrus was practically gushing when she talked to him. I’ve come to refer to Bryan as my TV crush. Check out his audition and wait til the very end – he is more than just a handsome face – he is a bit of a practical joker and very funny too.

Britney Spears “Get Naked” performed on Italian TV

This is exactly how I like my Britney Spears

Bellissimo!

This is exactly how I like my Britney Spears

Ballet dancer Gabriele Esposito stunned Italian TV viewers who tuned in to watch the popular talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi last weekend with his racy routine to ‘Get Naked’ by Britney Spears.

Leave it to the Italians to up the sexy quotient to steamy in no time at all. Check out the group dance routine and enjoy this take on Britney.

The very gay friendly Tel Aviv is on my bucket list

gay travel, gay tourism, Tel AvivTel Aviv is a modern, progressive city that has a well deserved reputation for being incredibly gay friendly.  Last month The Boston Globe had an excellent article worth reading if you are interested in visiting Tel Aviv. In the article, Welcome to Tel Aviv, the gayest city on earththe Globe journalist, Christopher Muther, paraphrases descriptions of the city that he came across in tour books, writing, “Tel Aviv as gayer than a Neil Patrick Harris pool party.

For those who may not feel comfortable planning a trip to Israel, friends of mine who recently visited the area had rave reviews about OUTstanding Travel, a company that focuses on gay travelers. While Sergio and I currently do not have plans to visit Tel Aviv, it is on our bucket list and we hope to get there before long. Fortunately, starting last June, Israeli airline, El Al, started flying nonstop from Boston to Tel Aviv with round trip fares starting at $799.

If you are thinking of visiting this summer, keep in mind that Tel Aviv throws an amazing Pride Party in early June. This year Tel Aviv pride parade will take place June 3, 2016. Be sure to check out the official video from Tel Aviv Pride 2015.

Thank you Georgia

Salesforce CEO and LGBT ally, Marc Benioff, posted this touching video to thank those who lobbied to kill Georgia’s anti-LGBT bill.

It is a shame that the move in Georgia is the exception rather than the rule of late.  Republicans in the south have recently been waging a political war on the LGBT community. Notably, North Carolina’s mean-spirited and unAmerican anti-gay bill, HB 2, and more recently Mississippi’s horrific anti-LGBT “religious freedom” bill that is expected to be signed into law by Republican Gov. Bryant.

Massachusetts bipartisan bromance

Hello Adele spoofIn an age where politicians from different political parties barely acknowledge each other, Boston’s Mayor Marty Walsh and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker have what appears to be a healthy and productive working relationship. Late yesterday, “Hello Gov, it’s Marty” Adele Spoof, a video hosted on Vimeo started making its rounds and was picked up by boston.com.

The video celebrates with more than a bit of humor their wooing of GE to move their world headquarters to Boston.

BosGuy brain teaser

St. Patrick's DayEach Friday I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and to exercise your brain. Get help or share it with a friend or colleague to see if you can figure it out together.

I’ll confirm answers later in the day so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to try and solve the riddle.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day I have shared a popular Irish riddle.  You can watch a funny clip of a daughter asking her Dad the riddle but beware she tells the answer when he can’t figure it out (mind that the video contains profanity).

Do you like riddles? Then be sure to select the link below and try to solve riddles from previous weeks.

This week’s riddle:   30 cows in a field 28 chickens. How many didn’t?

Love at first sight

Love at first sightA few years ago I posted this Youtube video entitled, Love At First Sight.  I forgot about it until my brother asked for it again. The nearly three minute voice message left by an intoxicated and overly excited woman convinced she has just met her soulmate is filled with cringe-worthy comments like:

“Call me, email me, IM me, fax me, page me…”
“And we both have the same interest in yo-yo’s.”
“I know you said you had to leave urgently. I hope that everything’s okay.”
