FNO Boston: Thursday, September 6th

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO – 2012) is coming back to Boston next Thursday, September 6th.

Check out FNO Boston’s facebook page to stay up to date on everything that will be happening. I’ll be blogging more about this fun night out and hope to see you on Thursday September 6th.  Til then, enjoy this very cool promo video for  FNO NYC.

Wrong Direction’s “Disclosure”

Wrong Direction videoThis video started to go viral on many gay blogs last week when it was released, but I thought I’d hold off and share it with you today; the first day of the Republican Party’s National Convention.  This catchy song from Wrong Direction called “Disclosure” is a parody based on One Direction’s hit song, “What Makes You Beautiful”.

My favorite line is when they croon, Romney you lie to voters like nobody else. I have a unique perspective on this since I’ve been watching this man campaign in Massachusetts in nearly every election cycle since the early 1990s – even though he continues to maintain he’s not a “career politician”. Like what you see? The Kinsey Sicks

San Francisco’s dragapella beauty shop quartet just posted this humorous ditty on YouTube and I couldn’t help but share it.

The Kinsey Sicks are currently touring.  Sadly, they will not be in Boston this fall but you may see the full calendar of tour dates here.

Ripped Bri

This personal trainer who has a bunch of “How To” fitness videos is addicting to watch.  Could it be the fact he’s in amazing shape? Could it be the skin tight lycra shorts and nothing else he’s wearing? Could it be because you are looking for new routines to enhance your work out? I won’t lie – one of those reasons has nothing to do with the appeal.

Check out “Ripped Bri” in his Butt Kick-Ups and Squat Techniques videos.  I think you’ll see how appealing these educational videos can be.

Miss Piggy: Snackcercise

No wonder I’m struggling to get the body I want. I’ve been going about this the wrong way. I should’ve been listening to Miss Piggy all along. After all she looks fabulous.

Follow her advice “remove the wrapper, raise the candy and munch and crunch and chomp and chew…”

2012 Carnival in Provincetown

Carnival Week in Provincetown started this past Saturday. Today, the week-long celebration, comes together on Commercial Street for the big parade. This year’s theme is A Space Odessey.

I’ll be taking many photos so I can share the experience for anyone interested who was not able to attend.  I’ve included a quick video I created last year after the 2011 Carnival parade. Enjoy this clip.

Garfunkel and Oates

At the start of this summer I posted this video from Garfunkel and Oates.  These two women share their comedy through song.

It never ceases to amaze me how many, self confident, attractive women seem to snap after they turn 30.  This video pokes fun at that phenomenon.  Note that this video is not safe for work (NSFW).

Coolest administration ever

I cannot stop watching U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, dancing at a dinner party hosted earlier this week by South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane in Johannesburg.

Couple that with the fact that back in January we learned President Obama can carry a tune when he sang a couple lines from Al Green’s R&B hit Let’s Stay Together and you come up with what I think may be the coolest administration ever.

Between Hillary’s moves and Obama’s singing chops, I’d love to hang with them one Saturday night.

CONTREX strip commercial

This is completely safe for work and worth the watch. Wish more advertisers were this playful with their advertising.

The V Motion Project: Can’t Help Myself

Have you seen the music video for The V Motion Project’s song, “Can’t Help Myself”?  According to AdverBlog, Producer Joel Little created the music, musician James Hayday broke the track down and Paul Sanderson built the tech to control the music. The result is a fully functional musical instrument that can be played live, triggered virtually by a dancer.

The video was shot in Auckland, New Zealand, against a warehouse. Check out the faces in the crowd – they are clearly enjoying the show.

Matthew Mitcham sings Single Ladies

Matthew Mitcham, 2008 Australian Olympic champion in the 10M platform, used some of his down time during the London Olympic games this week to make a cute video of him singing Single Ladies on his ukulele.  Could Matthew be any more adorable or likeable? I don’t think so.

Jason Biggs unreleased “Magic Mike” audition

Here is a leaked video of Jason Biggs auditioning for the role of Dallas for the movie Magic Mike.  Matthew McConaughey ultimately landed the role, which might be for the best if you check out Biggs’ moves at the 3:00minute mark when he starts his dancing.

Note that the clip has profanity and isn’t safe to view at work.  Not sure how long this will remain so enjoy while it lasts.

Chick-fil-Gay

Earlier this month, I included a picture urging people not to support  Chick-fil-A because of their opposition to same sex marriage. The company has made significant donations to homophobic organizations like Exodus and The Family Research Council.

Trying to be sensitive to all you who LOVE fried chicken sandwiches, I thought I would share this video of Hilah Johnson. It’s a legit video and one you will appreciate if you are a fried chicken lover. I love the start of the video when Hilah says, “When’s the best time for a fried chicken sandwich? Sunday morning. Who’s closed on Sunday? Chick-fil-A!

Shakespeare on the Common starts Wed., July 25th

Boston GuyThe Commonwealth Shakespeare Company returns to the Boston Common with their 17th production of Shakespeare on the Common, on Wednesday, July 25th.  Performances will run through Sunday, August 12th.

This year the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company production is Coriolanus. Not familiar with this play written between 1605 – 1608? Neither am I but the play is based on the life of the legendary Roman leader, Caius Marcius Coriolanus.

Typical of Shakespearean plays, Coriolanus includes themes of betrayal and vengeance.  Interestingly, Hollywood has recently produced a modern interpretation of the 400+ year story and the movie includes acting heavyweights Gerard Butler, Ralph Fiennes (who also directs the movie), Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox.

Check out the trailer for the movie to get a feel for the storyline then plan an evening to come down and enjoy this free gift The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company so generously gives to the city. It is an excellent way to spend an evening with friends and support Boston’s local theater scene.  More information can be found here
