Thank you to all of you who read my blog, comment and share the posts. This hobby has turned into a bit of an obsession over the past few years and I greatly appreciate the support you provide by leaving comments and sharing my posts via your social media sites.
This photo was taken about 10 years ago in Cabo Frio, Brazil. We will be celebrating the New Year once again with our friend “Junior” shown above with us, but this year we will be celebrating together in São Paulo. I hope you enjoy your New Year’s Eve no matter where you are or how you decide to celebrate.
Feliz Ano Novo
Bear-Naked Chef Adrian De Berardinis, who I’ve obsessed over in recent posts sat down with Logo / NewNowNext in an exclusive interview talking about what he’ll be serving for dinner on New Year’s Eve at his West Hollywood home along with his De-“Bear”-A-Tini, which is an interesting Champagne-based cocktail.
You can read the full interview here.
My friend and fellow Boston blogger, David from WGB, posted this video last month. I thought I’d share the video on my blog today since many of us are prone to making New Year’s resolutions.
The Underwear Expert Blog asked their handsome style report, Jared North, to try on a variety of underwear types and colors based on traditions from different countries. Most of these traditions are meant to bring you either success, health or a better love life in the New Year. Enjoy the video and let me know which tradition you’ll be following when you slip on your underwear Thursday night.
In the month of December I published nearly 100 posts, and these are the five most viewed from the month. Considering how many visits each of these account for it is highly unlikely the rankings will change with only one day remaining.
1 – No surprise learning that my Boston Santa Speedo Run 2015 was my most viewed / visited post in the month of December. Published in the middle of the month, several national blogs and a handful of larger Instagram accounts featured photos from my post.
2 – I Should Really Start Watching Soccer Games was published on a whim after the photo was emailed to me the previous month. From the web stats it looks like many of you viewed and shared the provocative photograph.
3 – I published Gay Men and Their Underwear because I liked The Underwear Expert’s infographic, showing things like style preference, frequency of purchases and favorite colors. It looks like you liked it too.
4- Big surprise here that my post on The Bear-Naked Chef by Adrian De Berardinis was popular. Published on the 19th it was still able to rack up enough views to be one of my most visited posts. Check out episode 1, here.
5 – Readers also like my posts about what is happening in Boston. Ryan Landry and the Gold Dust Orphans holiday musical Opening Weekend for Little Orphan Tranny rounded out my top five blog posts of the month.
If you didn’t happen to see these posts feel free to check them out and share them with others who you think might enjoy them.
Each Wednesday morning I post a photograph and ask readers to offer a funny caption. I’ll get you started with a possible caption that hopefully inspires you to share a few of your own in the comments section below.
Tired of asking me if I was listening, Sergio bought me this for Christmas
Mode.com has been using this handsome model to make videos that showcase men fashion trends over the past 100 years, and I never tire of their videos. They have recently released their latest in this series New Year’s Style. Watch how the style of dress to celebrate the New Year have changed and in some ways remained remarkably similar in their fun, work-safe video below.
One of my favorite underwear brands, Garçon Model, has released their 2016 calendar which you can download from their website. I’ve shared my birthday month above to tempt you but you can see all 12-months by visiting: garconmodel.com/2016-calendar.
By the time this post goes live Sergio and I should be settled in São Paulo, Brazil after spending the previous 10 days visiting with Sergio’s family in his hometown of Belo Horizonte. The metro area population of Belo Horizonte is 5M+ making it comparable in population to Dallas but much more densely populated.
I’ve been coming to Belo Horizonte to visit family for years now but the incredible hills and indistinguishable skyline comprised of mid-rises make it impossible for me to get my bearings except for when I can take in vistas like the one shown above from the posh Mangabeiras neighborhood.
Belo has more than its share of little bars where people congregate to drink and talk outside since the weather is pleasant most of the year. When we go out, we tend to eat and drink in Savassi. Thanks to a very friendly exchange rate, eating and drinking in Brazil right now is very affordable for Americans and Europeans, which also means that we had more than our fair share of Midnight snacks.
One of my favorite places to meet is Cafe com Letras. The food is surprisingly good and it is a popular destination for gay and lesbians to congregate – located just blocks from other gay friendly destinations like Bar Imperial, 2015 (soon to be changing its name to 2016 in March) and Josephine’s.
In addition to a nightlife that lasts until the sunrise, there are plenty of places of interest including Pampulha – a residential neighborhood defined by its man-made lake and the modern architecture designed by Brazil’s most celebrated architect Oscar Niemeyer. For those of you who feel less inspired by architecture there are plenty of other sights to take in as you leisurely stroll along the man- made lake walking / jogging / bike path on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
On Christmas Eve my buddy Justin posted this photo. It is unclear to me if he was feeling inspired by my Bear-Naked Chef post from earlier in the week and what – if anything – he is wearing under the apron. Regardless of what he has on (or doesn’t), I can assure you he is one badass unicorn.
