The most often heard critique regarding politics in America is that Democrats and Republicans cannot find common ground on anything anymore. Here is a humorous if not frightening idea that I first saw posted on Joe.My.God.
I suppose this is one idea that would appeal to many Tea Party / Conservative Republicans and Democrats alike. Leaving only moderate Republicans and self-identified Independents shuddering at the thought. It would be interesting to see just how many red states this just might turn purple and how many purple states might turn blue if such a ticket ever manifest.

Emirates Airline to start flights to Boston
Earlier this summer I wrote a post about how Boston’s Logan airport has been successfully wooing new airlines and routes while consciously working to lessen reliance on traditional large US carriers and looking beyond Europe for destinations to serve in this post.
Japan Airlines (JAL) started flights to Tokyo, Turkish Airlines has announced flights to Istanbul and Copa Airlines announced flights to Central America from Boston. Now Emirates Airlines has announced that they will start flying to Boston in March 2014, making it the 8th US city they will serve. While flying can be a pain in the neck – I still love travel and welcome the news.
Much thanks to Adam from Boston Hospitality Industry Blog for pointing this out. You can read more if interested, in the Dubai Chronicle.

Curious where you can find these street pianos? Check out this street map.
Furry Friday
This sexy guy was recently featured on my friend’s blog, WGB, and I thought he was worthy of a re-post as my Furry Friday. What do you think?
Dick of the Week: Guido Barilla, CEO of Barilla Pasta
CEO of Barilla Pasta has caused a bit of controversy with remarks that indicate his disapproval of homosexuality. In response to a public outcry that started in Italy and thanks to social media has traveled around the world, the firm recently issued the following statement, “I apologize if my words generated misunderstandings or arguments, or if they offended the sensibilities of some people.”
The apology is appreciated but is clearly just a PR statement. I’m assuming that his pasta will soon be appearing on the Chick-fil-A menu and Sarah Palin will be running down for a photo op. What cozy company this dick of the week will keep. Unimpressed and want to express your frustration?

Restaurant review: Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse
Davio’s has been operating in Boston since 1985. It moved from Newbury Street ten years ago in 2003 to Park Square where it has continued to thrive despite recent economic troubles which is impressive since most plates range from $30 – $45. I’ve always liked the oval shaped bar in the Park Square location but had not dined there in quite a while so in the spirit of ‘research’ I co-opted a friend to join me for dinner.
Davio’s hallmark is their steaks and service, but on this visit we experienced neither. We were both craving carbs, and our perpetually befuddled server, while very polite, was too overwhelmed to be of much service.
We started our meal with salads and my friend’s beet salad ($13) was so nicely plated that I was a tad envious when it was served. Unfortunately, my photos don’t do it justice so I’d direct you to The Boston Globe photo. Despite the gorgeous plating of the beet salad, I preferred my Baby Arugula Salad with shaved Parmigiano, lemon infused olive oil ($10).
Following our salads, we opted for carbs over protein. Shown below is the Mezzaluna dish ($25) that I had which was a half moon shaped ravioli-like pasta stuffed with Buratta cheese. The slightly sweet sauce was offset by the artichokes, grilled leeks and diced tomatoes. My friend ordered a half portion of the Lobster Risotto ($16). Although the photo of the risotto looks washed out the dish was creamy and rich, something I’ld enjoy when it is a bit colder.
Despite the questionable service, I’m still a fan of Davio’s even if I’m not a regular. I also know that the staff is well trained and our experience was a fluke rather than the rule. Davio’s also has locations in MA in Chestnut Hill, Lynnfield and Foxborough as well as outside New England in Philadelphia and Atlanta.
